Hello, I've been reading the forum for months, and this is my actually first post.
As getting myself ready for Express Entry, I am considering to take online certification class from a Canadian college for CRS score.
I already have a 4 yrs Bachelor's degree earned from USA.

1. I am considering "Certificate in Integrated Digital Media" from University of Calgary. How can I make sure this will be recognized by CIC for score? Who should I ask?

2. What are the regulations for the online certifications to be recognized for score?

3. Is there minimum credits for 1 yr certificate program?

I just figured out that CIC CRS tool says: "Note: a Canadian degree, diploma or certificate must either have been earned at an accredited Canadian university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute in Canada. Distance learning counts, but only if it made up less than half your study."

I guess this means 100% online certification won't count,,,?

Is there anyone who got extra scores by taking online certificates?

Hi, were you able to get scores by following this course online?

Hi,

I am in the same boat now and am looking to get an online certificate in Business analytics from the University of Calgary. I am also looking at other certificates from Candian Universities which take about a year (September - June) to obtain and are not listed specifically as post-graduate certificates.

I am not trying to earn additional points for education in Canada, I am just trying to bump up my current education points for my Bachelor's degree. Can I earn education points with these certificates?

This is the latest from the cic website about certificates and diplomas.
Note: a Canadian degree, diploma or certificate must either have been earned at an accredited Canadian university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute in Canada. Distance learning counts for education points, but not for bonus points in your profile or application.

Not for bonus points means you can't claim the additional 15 points for study in Canada option in express entry system

Thanks for the reply!

I did mention that I am not looking to gain bonus points for education in Canada. Just wanted to confirm with someone if certificates like the ones that I mentioned earlier will be accepted as part of 'Two or more certificates, diplomas or degrees. One must be for a program of 3 or more years'

I think you are talking about this course.
https://conted.ucalgary.ca/public/category/courseCategoryCertificateProfile.do?method=load&certificateId=52415064

Now, if this course is getting you a local Canadian certificate with at-least 30 Canadian credits (which is normally a one to 2 year course in canada), then you should be safe in claiming points for 2 or more certificates.
However since you will do this course 100% online, do not expect to claim points under study in canada section, which is the bonus 15 points.

In my opinion, this is a grey area, and you should either study physically in canada or study abroad and go through WES for an ECA report to claim points in the express entry system.
