Letter of explanation is an essential document and it could make or break your application.
There is never a fixed template for this because everyones case is different. Letter of explanation is used to explain certain things to the visa officer. For example i had 3 years of gap before i applied for my study permit. In my letter of explanation I explained what i was doing during the gap why i am resuming my education now and why canada and how it'll help me for the future. In someone elses case it was why he left his current university mid way and wants to come to canada to complete his education. There are many types of cases and everyone has an unique letter of explanation. However all of them have a similar function.
Here's how you write a letter of explanation.
First of all begin by vowing you will speak the truth. And begin with a formal introduction by stating you previous education histroy. When did u finish ur high school and what gpa you got and what IEls score u got. Then chose the subject you applied for in the university and explain why you decided to study this subject. What your aim foe the future is. Once u have explained them that now move on to the next part. If u have any gap, explain why there was this gap and what u were doing and why. Once u finish explaining that or if u dont have any gaps, start a new sentence stating u looked into different universities around the world and ur home country to look for quality education. During this research u found the canadian university and were impressed by the degree and programs it provided and it was a perfect scenarios for u as this university was providing the exact degree u need to acheive ur goals. Then boast some facts about the university that impressd you. Once u have done that, explain why you chose that degrew and what your plans is after completing the degree. Never mention that you aim to purse ur career in canada. Explain them that once u recieve ur degree u will return to ur home country and purse ur career goals by getting a job. After explaning all thesw in details, explain how u understand the rules and regulations of canada and vow to be a law abiding resident.
This is the format of a SOP/ letter of explanation and how u frame it depends on ur case and ur current qualifications.

Ignore those samples. There isnt an LOE template. It's just a document containing a list of points you want to clarify IF NEEDED. Mine was literally less than 2 pages. Don't overload the officer handling your case with masses of text and pages.
