Continuous Work Experience Requirements and Police Certifications

I have 2 queries-

The first is related to the continuous work experience requirement- I am aware that experience of 12 months is required. I have this experience in 2 separate jobs over a period of 12 months (same NOC). My only question is that can there be a gap between the 2 jobs (12 months are still completed) or does it need to continuous 12 months?

The second is related to police certificates. I left the US in 2016. I lived there for 2 years. Therefore I will need a police certificate. However, I need to visit the US again in the next few months, just for a couple of days. Do I need to wait till I complete my trip and return back to my home country to apply for the police certificate? or can I just apply right away (since I will be just visiting for a few days)?

Hi. I think it does not need to be continuous. Don't think it is stated as that. They only look for 1 year Canadian work experience and must be full time.

In regards to PCC are you in the stage of ITA where you are asked to submit all the docs? If you are you can apply for it now as the sooner you file the better. After that you are free to travel anywhere you want. So if I would you and is at the stage of sending in documents I would quickly get the PCC and send it in.

Good luck.

Hi Thanks for your reply.

I should clarify regarding the first query that I am applying for the Express Entry visa. However, as per my understanding the work experience doesn't need to be Canadian experience (although one probably will get more points for that). It can be in any country, as long as it is 12 months and full time.

Regarding the second query, I am not yet at the ITA stage. Just entered the pool actually. I am just trying to figure the PCC stuff out in advance. However I will probably need to travel in August.

I do not have 100% answer for this but as far as I understand, working experience do not need to be continuous in terms of CEC but do need to be 'continous 1 year ' in terms of FSW. You will see the words in CIC website.
And the police cerficate technically needs to cover the entire period of your stay in a country so I recommend you to get your cerificate after you come back from your trip which is planning on next month.

Hi Krystine. Thanks for your answer. I will keep it in mind. I am applying for the Federal Skilled Worker class (not CEC).
