Atlanta embassy received my Docs/passport on feb 21. If PCC is taking longer does it mean it is being sent to local police of my address in India for verification ? Does it help if I check in my nearest police station ?

Helo...

My passport was issued in NYC in 2016. i applied PCC for me and my wife on 19th Feb. they sent the PCC of my wife within 3 days but when i called Atlanta embassy they said 'they did not received information(or mail) from them(india i guess) regarding me and also scared me with 'it may take a month or even more' really ???
what do you think ?

Appreciate your response!!
Hi, I have the same issue. I submitted my passport on Feb 14th. They sent the PCC of my husband's in a week but retained my passport. I am trying to call them using the number 404-963-5902 followed by option 4 for Misc services. But no one is answering the call. Did you call the same number?

Just wanted to share my experience getting Indian PCC both via in-person application and mailing the application.
My husband and I maintain residences in different states so we did an in person application drop at Atlanta and mailed the application to NYC

In person at Atlanta consulate

1. Pretty much follow the guidelines on the consulate website.
2. Atlanta consulate has an additional form called miscellaneous service form as well which can be found on their website. You’ll need to take 3 copies.
3. So you’ll need 4 photographs in total. One for the application form and 3 for the miscellaneous service form.
4. Take exact cash. Far easier to pay that way.
5. Atlanta consulate stamps your passport when you receive the PCC so make sure you include that stamp when you submit the travel docs post ITA. Also ensure you have space for the stamp because it takes up one full page to stamp it.
6. The first time we went we got the PCC on the same day. The second time we submitted the docs on a Thursday and got the call only on Monday.

Mailing to New York consulate

1. Again pretty much follow the website directions.
2. No miscellaneous forms. Only an application form
3. NYC doesn’t stamp your passport but the receipt will be attached to your passport when it’s returned to you.
4. When I sent early in January 2018, I sent the fees as a single money order but now the language in the website has been changed to two separate money orders - one for the service fee and another for the ICWF fee. Check with the consulate before sending your application.
5. It takes them about one week (3-4 business days) from receipt to open the packet and then about 2 business days to process the application. In total your passport and PCC should be available to you by 10 days max.
6. Someone from the consulate will call you to check on which country you want the PCC for. Alternatively, you can include a cover letter in your application packet sayings it’s for Canada immigration.
7. I used USPS Express 1 day shipping and it was done on time.
thanks for details..
But why would you apply India's PCC in two states or two embassies?
This PCC is for your residency in India so you are getting police verification of your tenure in India.
So i don't understand how does it matter if you stayed in US in two or more states...
For US you get FBI verification... Can you explain If you did it wrong (I mean more than required) or I am wrong here in saying that?

Thank you.

You can apply for Indian PCC only at the consulate in whose jurisdiction you maintain legal residence. As I explained at the start of my post, I lived in the jurisdiction of NYC consulate and my husband lived in Atlanta consulate's jurisdiction.

Can anyone tell me processing time for passport issued in India?
Also do I need photographs for NY embassy?
Do they keep our passports till we get PCC or they return it on the same day?

oh my mistake.. i read it differently as "we" dropped in person in Atlanta and "we" mailed to NYC... so i misread you guys resided in both states..
Thanks for reply and more clarity now :)

Thanks, @albak for sharing your experience.
Quick question to verify I am doing it right. You entered "Consulate General of India – New York" in the "Pay To" column on the money order, right?

Hi Have you received your PCC? How long did it take ? Can we contact anyone in India who will help in faster processing?
I have been dealing with incompetent and extremely rude Atlanta CGI for past 2 months to get Indian PCC and still haven't received. There is zero response to any contact you try to make with them. They lie constantly about what's the status of your application is. So apparently, they didn't even check my application thoroughly , and one of the proforma had signature missing which was only noticed in RPO, Delhi, when request was sent for Indian PCC. RPO in India contacted them about the same so many times and they never respond to that. CGI Atlanta website clearly states in case of incomplete documentation it'll be sent back but they don't do anything. I have all my documents uploaded to IRCC since March first week only waiting on Indian PCC until now. It's unbelievable such people are in charge of Indians in Foreign land.

My experience with Consulate New York was good. I got my PCC on the 8th day. I posted all the required documents on April 12. They called me the next day to check for which country do you need the PCC for. After that, as there is no status tracking, I emailed the consulate on April 20th to check the status and by the time I reached home, I got my Passport and PCC in the mail.

When did you finaaly get it?
How was your application done, in person or through mail with return postage?
We want to go to atlanta consulte but are freaking out reading everybody's experience with them. Just trying to understand if in person vs mail makes a difference in processing time.

I got it last week after 3 months. They are just very rude and useless. Go in person, that way you'll have your passport atleast. They don't check application before sending it to India, so make sure everything is good. Their correspondence with RPO in India is bad too. I had to push people in RPO Delhi to get mine through cos embassy won't do it.
