Hello Abdul

Some word of advice from you . I am contemplating doing masters from one of the universities in Ontario .. I am doubtful as to whether i should really go for it considering the fact that it very a a tough competition getting nominated under OINP Master stream . It closes very soon and does not open for long time .

Based on experience what do you suggest ? I want to have a PR end of the day so my concern is putting my money for education which ultimately wont give me a PR

Would be really grateful if you can guide me a bit - thanks for your help

Yes the Masters PNP has become tough here in Ontatio. If PR is the sole purpose of studying in Canada I would suggest you do some good research about all the provinces which gives PNP option for international mastersgraduates.

Secondly, you may want to choose a course which gives you a NOC category A or B jobs immediately after your masters. This will give you an opportunity to apply for PR under Express entry Candian experience class at the end of 1 year of your job.

Thanks Abdul .

One more question , does the job have to be in the field of the master or can job be different from master degree (assuming job is still under NOC A or B Category ) ?

The reason am asking is because i am getting positive pre-assessment from few of the univs for MBA and wondering i should pursue that ?

As such am an IT professional with more than 10 years exp , but my degree is B.Tech in Chemical ( from IIT Kharagpur) . I was told by some consultants that i have degree vs job mismatch and i may get rejected for PR , even though right from campus placement i have been working in IT industry .

Thanks again

If you have 10 years work experience then I recommend you trying for PR directly under Express entry .

If you nicely explain in the cover letter the mismatch between your field of study vs your work experience in the PR application then I believe you will not have any problem.

Thanks for the suggestion - seems i have to do more research and do more fact finding ( i gave up on the consultants when i realized after they took money they did not really help me much) .

Coming to masters from Ontario ,what do you say about master's degree from Canada univ vs job in a different field ? In that sense will that Canada experience count or will that be waste/throwaway even if job maybe in NOC A or B ? .... this is the point where got conflicting views and hearing from real people like you can clear up the confusion ...

To be honest I will say concentrate on filing PR through EE, do research and fact finding, you don't need any immigration lawyer/consultant if you know the process correctly. You will do a big favour to yourself as you will save lot of money and time.

To answer your second question, it doesn't matter if your job is in different field than your study. Having said that you may have to explain properly as to why your job is in a field which is different from your field of study. Still, I sincerely recommend you doing work in the the direction of directly filing PR under Express entry with your current experience .

You are right - have learnt that the the hard way . Wish could have found this forum earlier .

Btw , my score was not above 400 in EE due to my age factor ( and i have no master degree except my B.Tech degree) .
Thats why was exploring masters avenue and had doubts ..

You've been really helpful . Thanks a lot

I have filed for OINP under International Student with Job offer stream with the help of representative (Immigration lawyer in my case):

Firstly, there is a need for lawyer for this particular stream as employer helps to file it and there are many confidential documents that are provided by the employer to a lawyer (employers share their TAs, business registration documents and various other details; that they might not be comfortable sharing with you directly since those are confidential)

Status of my application:

OINP Filed - 25th May 2018
Received Receipt of confirmation of complete application (RCA) - 1st June 2018
