Hi there,

I am filling out a visitor application for my parents in Iran. I have created the MyCIC account under my dads name and I am answering the questions for them. In this case, do I need to indicate that I am a representative? Or is a representive only someone when they apply using their own MyCIC account?

Moreover, if I not considered a representative but I am filling out the forms from Canada, would we technically be applying for a visitor visa from Canada or from Iran?

You can manage your dad's online account just like he would. Or he can appoint you as his authorized representative (IMM 5476 - Use of Representative).

From Iran. All considerations are based on the current residence address of the applicant even if it is applied online

Thank you so much. I have another question that I don’t remember if I asked or not. But there is a question that asks if you depend on someone financially. When my parents come to Canada I will be paying for everything, but right now in their country they don’t really depend on anyone. So for that question, would my answer be no?

If I respond no, then the form of Proof of Financial Resource of Supporter goes away..where would I have to include things about my own income then? Would it be a scanned photo in the invitation letter then?

TRVs are mostly evaluated on the strength of the applicant's financials. The host's financials are only supportive/secondary such as providing accommodation, paying for travel and living expenses during their stay, etc.

As your parents have good finances, they must answer 'No'

Although they would answer 'No' to the previous question, it will help if you provide your NOA/T4 + your bank statement. These are separate documents, and won't be scanned/included in the invitation letter

You must combine any/all documents which cannot be uploaded to specific sections.... as a single PDF.... and upload this PDF in the Optional/Letter of Explanation section.

This PDF could include miscellaneous documents such as property valuation, proofs of multiple strong ties, your parents' financial investments, etc

you are a true life saver. From the bottom of my heart, I truly thank you! and just to clarify, I upload a photocopy of a document proving my status in Canada in the invitation letter or in the section you just mentioned above?

You're most welcome :)

You must include a copy of your passport/immigration status as a separate document.

The invitation letter + cover letter must include the Host and Applicant details. For example: Applicant details (Name/ Date of birth/ Nationality/ Passport details/ Address/ Employment/ Relationship to Host).

Do include evidence to prove they have strong reasons to return to Iran:
Your parents' employment/business + property ownership (including valuation) + dependent family members who live with them (unmarried siblings or grandparents) + good financial situation (bank statement, investments) + previous travel history.

Do keep their visit to 2-3 weeks + include a detailed day-by-day itinerary for sightseeing and spending time with you + an overseas travel medical policy (not super visa insurance, not mandatory but it would help)

Thank you very much. I have one more question regarding the Purpose of Travel- Other form..in this section it mentions that I need to include proof that my parents will be only in Canada temporally. In this section, is it best to include their property ownership, plus dependent family members who live with them as you mentioned above or something else?

Moreover, for when you mentioned "you must include a copy of your passport/immigration status as a separate document", would you mind expanding on this? Do I put it on another page and merge the invitation letter and the scanned passport into one file document? Where else would I upload it? Unless it is in the explanation section which you mentioned before...?

Thanks once again

Purpose of visit cannot be their property ownership documents. You can include the detailed day-by-day plan for their visit with expense estimates (sightseeing, spending time with you, etc). They must prove they can afford this plan x 2 persons + airfare x 2 persons

Only the bio pages of your passport, not your entire passport.

You can combine the invitation letter with your passport (bio pages) + PR card (if you're not a citizen) + your NOA + your bank statement + your birth certificate (proof of relationship).... as one PDF. Do Google for a suitable software to merge files/documents into a single PDF.

Documents must be in English/translated into English by a certified translator. You would need to include the original untranslated document + the translated version + an affidavit from the translator affirming that the translation is true and correct in every way
