Why study permits take so much longer these days?

Hey guys,

Student visa processing time for Iranians is now 21 weeks or 5 months! It is very long I think, it is mentioned in cic site that the applicants that submitted their applications in the past are getting their visa now. But does it show the processing time for the ones that want to submit now? If it really takes that much i don't think i can make it to Canada by September, cuz my program starts in September.

Its advisable for you to apply, then if its not out before a month to when your classes starts, you can always defer your admission to January 2019

Thanks for the answer buddy, but actually the program that i applied to just starts in September and not January u know. And i thought it will be really late if i wanna go for the next September

Let me explain clearly.. If your program starts in September and after you may have applied for Study permit and its not out before September or before your classes start in September, you can email the school to shift/move/carry forward/defer your admission or program to January 2019 intake while you wait for your SP to be approved

Aha i got it thx, so u mean it doesn't matter that my program doesn't start in January as long as I've already got the admission i can defer it to the next semester.

Can i ask another question? Can't i go for visa with my admission from a university and then go to another university ? Bcz I've got an admission from one uni, but I'm waiting for another one which will give me offer in a month.

You can decide which School to go if you have more than one offer as many people do apply to more than one school.

If you have not paid your tuition fees or secure your seat in the School, sure you can wait on the other offer to come in before making a decision. But if you have already secure you seat with the School and decide to withdraw to attend another, you might get into trouble as the school might report to CIC.. If you haven't done any payment or whatsoever.. then you can wait on the new offer

I am glad I could help.. Just in addition, there is a deadline date set for you to secure your seat otherwise you will lose you admission.. you can see to the confirmation on your admission form
