I have recently received a Canadian work permit. I would like to apply for a visitor's visa for my parents. I have the following questions about the application:

1. Should I apply for them together in the same application or should I go for two separate applications? My dad is working in India and is financially independent. My mom is dependent on my dad. Does applying together in the same application or separately have any advantages or disadvantages?
2. Do they need to undergo an upfront medical exam before I submit their application?

It's advisable to apply for your parents' TRVs a few months after you move/settle in.

1. Should I apply for them together in the same application or should I go for two separate applications? My dad is working in India and is financially independent. My mom is dependent on my dad. Does applying together in the same application or separately have any advantages or disadvantages?
You can apply for them together. You would need to create a new GCkey/online account for your dad as the principal applicant.

Whether they should apply together or successively would depend on their individual/collective strong ties + length of their visit + previous travel history, etc

2. Do they need to undergo an upfront medical exam before I submit their application?
No. Generally, medicals are not required for short-stay TRVs unless specifically requested by the visa office
