Just wanted to check I'm not missing anything - it looks like the only way I can get more points is to learn French? Would that even be enough points?

We don't want to move to Canada unless we get PR and I think provincial nomination is unlikely because we're looking at BC. We have searched for jobs but it seems most employers don't want to bother unless you are already there.

I have a question regarding which degree i should use for application.
My bachelors: Mechanical engineering
Masters: Petroleum Engineering
My work experience: Mechanical industry (Construction)
Please advise on which degree i should apply for express entry.
Is it necessary to have the same experience as the degree you use for application?
I will get extra points for master's degree but do let me know if you have had this situation and suggest what to do.

You do not use or apply for express entry using one degree against other. You inform all your education credentials. So you have to indicate both bachelors and masters through ECA.
Not necessary to have experience and degree in same field.
Yes master will give you extra points where as you can show work experience in field studied for bachelors.

I have a Master's degree. They didn't seem to care about my Bachelor's degree.

My Bachelor's is in English Language. I got 9/9/9/9 on IELTS but I did find it very difficult.
Do you have work experience? Not sure why you're in 427.can you redo you're crs calculator and see ?

I'm 40. Unfortunately can't become younger.
Yep that pulls the point down. every year after 30 brings down 5 points..so almost 50 points gone. ..maybe you can try go ontario pnp etc if you get nominated.look at that path
