Hi, I am an international student here. I started my studies in Jan 2017. Planning to Graduate in Dec 2018.
My question here is, what if I took semester off in Summer 2018? Does it effect my PGWP?

Is it necessary to maintain full time status in the university?

Yes you should be a full-time student. You can be a part-time student for your last semester if you need to finish off some courses for your degree. You can take the summer semester off if it is a scheduled break for your program.

It's not a scheduled break. I want to take a break and visit my home, come back and complete my degree. am I eligible for PGWP?

If it's not a scheduled break, then your PGWP may end up being refused. To qualify for a PGWP your studies must be continuous. This means that scheduled breaks are fine - unscheduled breaks are not fine.

So short answer is if you decide to take an unscheduled break, you're creating a risk your PGWP will be refused.
