Hi. We are just waiting for our Oath Ceremony and we had Decision Made status last March 29. My father is seriously ill and will undergo surgery this week. Can I call the CIC to request take the Oath earlier so I can leave the country? Is my reason valid? TIA
Yup, I think it's valid. Just make sure you provide some sort of documents for you to satisfy the citizenship office responsible for your application.

If there is any reason that you cannot travel on your current passport, then yes, your reason qualifies for urgent processing.

Quoting the website,

To apply for urgent processing, you must be eligible to apply for citizenship and have an emergency, such as:
  • needing Canadian citizenship to:
    • apply for a job
    • avoid losing your job
    • go to a Canadian school, college or university
  • needing to travel because of death or serious illness in your family and you can’t get a passport in your current nationality
  • receiving a successful Federal Court decision on an appeal on a previous application for citizenship

My status is still showing this and no test invite. Anyone is the same boat??

  1. We received your application for Canadian citizenship (grant of citizenship) on November 7, 2017.
  2. We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s), and a study book called Discover Canada on January 18, 2018.
  3. We started processing your application on February 14, 2018.
I guess it too slow process.
I've been In Progress since Jan 15, 2018. Sad, but we are not alone in this boat :)

Hi Admins

I am not part of October Applicant thread, can you please ask Scarborough applicants from October if they have received any intimation from the office regarding oath ceremony. As per the sheet, oct was the watershed after which all GTA applications are going to Scarborough and in Oct sheet, all Scarborough applicants have no entries post DM and Mississauga seems to have cleared all it's oaths for Oct atleast. Thanks.

If your application is eligible to be processed urgently, then you can request urgent Oath. I can tell you that my reason was work related international travel.

I am November 15 applicant. I would have to wait for my Oath for 3 to 4 months at least for nornal processing but I got the invitation 6 days after my test. Regarding 4 weeks from the Oath Letter, off course all ceremonies before April 28 must have been fully booked that is why they invited me 4 weeks later.

See https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/november-2017-citizenship-applicants.523007/page-335#post-6838958 where the rule is quoted that you can only apply for urgent processing if the travel is because of death or serious illness and can't get a passport in your current nationality.

The fact that you know you'll travel in July is unlikely to be because of death or serious illness, so you would not be granted urgent processing.

It's great that you're able to apply. I hope that you're doing so with realistic expectations as to how long the process will be and won't drive yourself crazy in the many ways people have exhibited here. Good luck!
:) It took as 4 years to get our PR (back in 2014, we applied in 2010).
So anything short of that is a blessing! :D:D

I think that the only realistic way to be able to cope with the mounting levels of stress & worry & exasperation in this whole process is to mentally lower one's expectations of the bureaucrats and then just hope to be pleasantly surprised, one day.

You might be travelling just once to your home country while I have to travel for work to dozens of countries for which Canadian passport is a big deal. And this is supported by my Employer too. So there is very big difference between our case. Therefore, I think, your request may not be accepted.
