WES email stating CIC

I have received the below email from Wes. I have done my ECA 4 years ago for educational purpose. Do we need a ECA fswp even if I'm applying under Cec Express entry. There was no update under mycic account about the Wes document needed. Kindly advise.

CIC has informed WES that they cannot verify your ECA report. This is due to the incorrect application choice as the WES FSWP customized application was not selected.

In order for Citizenship and Immigration Canada to process your immigration application, they will need to verify your ECA report using WES’s online service. To allow CIC access to your ECA report, you will need to order a duplicate report at https://www.wes.org/ca/apply/xcopycic.asp? Please be advised that you are required to upgrade your file to WES ICAP at http://www.wes.org/appstatus/indexca.aspx before you order duplicate report, if you did not have an ICAP service on your original application.

I am also have my ECA from about 3 years and I heard that it is required to upgrade my account, now I need to know it is really required then I can make it now better than later.

First question i would like to ask is that the degree you want to evaluate did you obtain it in canada??. If you obtained it in canada you then do not need an assessment if using it for CIC immigration. Also WES report is valid for 5 years generally for whatever purpose you using it for.Howvere, if this is not the case that you obtained such degree in canada(as this may be for the purpose of CIC immigration) then you will have to have such degree assessed.Hope this helps?

I chose ECA and got my evaluation done. I even got the results to my home address.


I just got off the call from WES Canada and the representative wants to me to upgrade to ICAP (CAD 250 approx) in order to order a duplicate copy (CAD 56.50) sent to IRCC electronically.

But I am able to order a duplicate copy to IRCC and pay CAD 56.50 for that. But he mentions that this option should be grayed out for me until I upgrade to ICAP. After knowing that this option is not grayed out, he says 'its my personal advice for you got for ICAP, if I were you I would do it'.

So I am really confused if I should go for ICAP or just order a duplicate to be sent to IRCC electronically (coz even after ICAP I need to do the same).

Any advice is appreciated...

I feel WES is taking us for a ride and trying to make the best of our vulnerable situation.

I just tried to apply for a WES evaluation again with a new account, at Step one there are only two options,

WES Standard Application or ECA for IRCC Application (its obvious I chose the 2nd option, both earlier and now)

After filling out my details I see the below before paying, So IRCC is already a MANDATORY recipient while I made my initial application and now I got a mail from WES with a subject line 'IRCC is not your Recipient' . Am I missing something or is WES trying its best to make use of my situation?

Please advice.

Just order a "Duplicate to IRCC" and pay for it. Next day you should have a link to download a new report with IM suffixing your WES ID. That should be it.

Any updates on this? I have submitted the duplicate order to WES with recipient IRCC. What to expect now. What is your medical review status? Is it in Passed status though IRCC cannot access your WES portal or does your application is onhold untill they gain access to WES portal?

This is a drama created by WES to make you subscribe for more of their useless services. The sole purpose for us to enroll for WES Canada is for immigration and CIC has the authority to check our reports using our ID. Regardless of ordering a duplicate to IRCC, your application will be processed/approved by CIC. You will be fine, just wait for a few days for your application to show some progress.

Just order a duplicate copy to IRCC. The mail is not from IRCC for you to panic, its from WES to make you subscribe for more. Ideally IRCC should have access to your ECA.
