Yes i heard about that but some of my friends they got rejection and I don't wanna take any chance.
As far as i know you have to apply for it if you are 4 months or less prior the expiry date of current WP,also if you are a PNP applicant with a restriction with one employeer in your nomination cartificate you are not eligibile!I have a close WP too i wanted to go for open one but i was not eligibile
I have same condition. I can not apply for open work permit. Mine will be expire in December 2018.

Same as you,i am on a close one i extended it for another year!Mine was about to expire March 20,waste of money i am in the 21 month waiting for PPR!I am so tired and stressed of all of this!Good luck to us all,hopefully we will be done by April

I received application number on 6th August 2016.We are family 4 guys. I from China.
Here is another july 2016 applicant. They ask me re do medical on march 6th after that nothing change. Cic automatical answere tells me that reviewing additional document, medical pass, and background check in process... i dont even know what kind of additional documents they are reviewing.... it tells me for a month... they dont ask me schedule a..

Yes,I have open work permit,my husband is close work permit,we are inland applicant .I forgot submit date,but August 2016,I receive Fn.
