Call CIC (in Canada) ASAP!!. Tell them that you never received any communication. If you are with an agent, this is a huge drawback. The agents forget or hold on purpose to shell money from the applicants. Immediately revoke representative (if an agent) and take control.

Guys, i am about to start my spousal sponsorship application. I would like to know if there is any advantage of doing this process through a lawyer? can someone advice. my friends suggested that i should go with a lawyer although i am not convinced.

Most of the people I’ve spoken to have done it on their own including myself. Should be able to finish within a week including getting all the documents ready. It’s about $2000 on average to get it done through a representative/lawyer. Lawyer will ask you the same questions written on the application that you can totally answer yourself. In fact, i know a couple of people who have removed their representatives’ access midway application process due to them not updating their clients on time. You also get to check updates first hand on your online GCKey account and in your email if you do it yourself.
Make sure you follow the checklist and read all the questions twice before answering if you decide to do it yourself. Follow their guide if you get stuck on a question or look through forms here.
Proof read everything before you send it in. Good luck!!

Story of a Lawyer for Inland App of My Friend:

Poor guy he applied in Feb 2017. In Feb 2018 (yes 12 months later) his lawyer gets the SA and the lawyer says apply for OWP and Fingerprints. However the OWP was already applied for in the beginning and he never got AIP. First Red Flag. His lawyer asks him to do fingerprints and CIC ended up never asking for it (2nd red flag). Finally when he got PPR request, the Lawyer send his documents (scanned) to a DO NOT REPLY email to Mississauga. After a month last week he called CIC to confirm and they said they never got any docs and are awaiting it. The lawyer most probably has the link for the online account and wouldn't give it and my friend can't link online either. At this point i helped send his docs through the WEB Form and also mailed it.

These lawyers are from Mississauga - Prasad Law Firm

Avoid Lawyers and Agents. They don't care about you, only their revenue. (not all but mostly)
