Hi,

My name is Sunita and my husband applied for ETA - business visa to Canada on 8-03-2018. Yesterday I received a refusal letter stating 2 reasons as 1. purpose of visa and 2. no valid non immigration US visa during the time of application. On the contrary, we had submitted the covering letter mentioning the purpose of visit to incorporate our firm there with a valid copy of B1/B2 US visa. I really fail to understand how can a immigration officer reject our application when the documents are well supported in original and photo copy.
Can you please help, should I appeal against refusal and ask for reconsideration.

Thanks,
Sunita.

He was correctly refused.

B1/B2 is not an immigration visa. He needs to be holding a US green card to qualify for an eTA.

I'm guessing you and your husband hold Indian passports. If that's the case, you have been correctly refused.

Indian passport holders cannot apply for eTAs (unless they have US green cards). You and your husband should have applied for Business TRVs

IRCC and visa officers are not crazy.

Your invitation letter does nothing to prove that your dad has strong ties to his country of residence.... and/or it does not prove that he will not overstay his visit. Notarization is not required for most visa offices.

Again, if you provided only your bank statements (which are not mandatory as the host).... and/or if your dad did not include his bank statements (nothing borrowed + bank balance matches the declared sources of income) then it would seem like he cannot afford the visit.

Nonetheless, if your dad reapplies, it would be best if he assesses his application for all possible ways to demonstrate he has strong ties + good financials, etc to his country of residence

Hi Scylla,

Thanks for your response and clarification.

Can we still reapply under TRVs mentioning the purpose of our visit and supporting it with B1/B2 US visa?
Will our application be consider as fresh approach or will it create a prenotion rejection impact even on the new application.

Please guide further. Your reply will help me to proceed in correct approach.

Thanks,
Sunita.

Hi Bryanna,

Thanks for the insight on this.

Does this means, me and my husband apply for business TRV with travel documents like air ticket, itenary details & booking even for business purpose?

Please advice.

Thanks,
Sunita.

Similar thing also happen with me I show permanent job since 20 years Clearly date of retirement 2032 strong ties with home country However refused under so many reasons which are not at all applicable to me

A permanent job has nothing to do with getting an ETA. Whether you qualify for an ETA depends on which country you're from and/or if you hold a US green card.

What is your country of citizenship? Do you hold a valid US green card?

I am not saying about ETA but consideration of documents and reasons of refusal both are not relating like in my case one of the reason for TRV refusal is employment prospectus but fact is that my employer has mentioned me as permanent since more than 20 years There are many refusal reason like this which do not related

Recommend you start a new thread. This one is specifically about an ETA refusal. The ETA in this case was refused because the person who applied didn't meet the requirements to obtain one. So completely different situation than yours.

ETA and TRV PR etc are just names but actual matter is consideration of documents
