Hi Anisha, you will have to apply at the nearest PSK. If your passport address and current address are the same then you'll get it on the same day. If your current address is different from passport address then you will have to provide address proof for your present address...and it might take a little longer to process.

You can log into psk website and book a date for police verification. You will find a link for it on the very first page.

I am a bit confused about your situation and I need you to explain in more detail as to what you've done. Is your current address and hometown address in the same country? Have you applied to a PSK in current city and given hometown address for verification?

If both cities are in the same country then you need to get only one pcc and it can be from either hometown or from present address. You can apply to PSK in hometown and give hometown address. You can also apply to PSK in present city and give present city address. Although...you cannot apply to a PSK in your present city with hometown address.

Yes my current address and hometown address is in same country.I live in Delhi but my permanent address is of ghaziabad.I will apply at ghaziabad psk as my permanent address come under that psk.also both my hometown and present address are close to each other only 1 hour away.so I am asking if they do physical verification or anything else

Ok, so you can apply to a PSK closest to Ghaziabad address. You will have to go to the Ghaziabad passport office on the appointment date with your passport. When they issued passport they must have already done police verification so they will not do it again and issue the PCC within few hours.

You can also apply from Delhi, but you will need valid address proofs such as rental agreement, gas bill, electricity bill. And they will conduct police verification since your passport address is different from current address. They will issue pcc after two or three weeks.

In short if you apply from passport address there will be no police verification. If you apply from any address other than that given on passport they will conduct a police verification.

Yes, a PCC from Ghaziabad PSK is enough. According to cic website "For all residents of India: You can apply for a Police Clearance Certificate from the Passport office on the Passport India website. The website will list what information and documents you need"
So you need not do it from police station.

On my form for reason of obtaining PCC, it was mentioned visa for Canada. I took the ITA received when I went to the PSK but I dont remember if I was asked to show that.

On another note, I live in the same address displayed in my passport and went to the nearest PSK, but still was told that PCC will be issued in a week, as opposed to what prpurohit has mentioned in a previous comment (within a few hours). I got a call from the nearest police station a week later, where they told me to bring standard documents like id proof, residence proof etc and they finished the process in 5 mins and told me to go and collect pcc the very next day.

If you are not in a hurry, I would say you can wait until you receive ITA and take the ITA document along just to be sure. It would not take more than 2 weeks max.

Yes, you should wait for an ITA. Although I've read on some threads that people have got pcc done before ITA too...but I would suggest you to wait for your ITA.

Yes as mentioned by thinkingtoapply it could take more than a day in some cases. But overall it will be quicker than getting PCC from an address that does not match your passport address.
