Hi All,

Apologies if this is not the correct place to post my query, I am new to this.

My Scenario is as below:

1. I got my Indian Passport stamped and have my COPR.
2. At the port of entry I will be giving my friends address and be staying with him (who is in canada for more than 7 years).
3. I plan to go back to India in 2 weeks time, as I have to resign my current job (I have to serve a notice period of 3 months) and hand over my project things.
4. Once my PR card is received (at the address I gave) , my friend plans to travel to India in person (for his vacation) and hand the PR card to me.

Will it create any problem when I re-enter Canada with my PR card?? because it was issued when I was not even present in the country.

I did not want it courier to me as its illegal is what I heard, So I can wait till my friend arrived in India.

Any other suggestions are welcomed.

Thank you.

It is not illegal to mail a PR card.

CBSA will not care that you were not in Canada when the card was issued.

I did see a link : http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=064&top=10

This tell us that we will need permanent resident travel document (PRTD) when boarding a flight to Canada if I do not have a PR card.

In my case if my friend delivers me my PR card when he come to India, I should be good to come back to Canada, Correct?
Once you have your PR card in your hand and passport of course you are good to board a plane to Canada. If for some reason your friend does not make it to India then yes you will need a PRTD.

As others will tell you it is not illegal as far as Canada is concerned to mail or courier a PR card but that nobody of course can predict what happens with a receiving country. Many people use this option without incident though.
