Points calculation and eligibility clarification!!

Hi,

Can someone please help me in answering below confusion..

My brother in law will turn 45 this March and below is the score he has in IELTS exam plus his wife also got 6.5 marks.

Listening:6.5
Reading: 6
Writing: 6
Speaking: 7.5
Overall: 6.5

So now his points are as below:

Age-2

Education- 22

Work Exp-15

IELTS-18

Spouse IELTS & Relatives-10

I want to clarify if he is eligible to apply.. also for age will he be "0" after March or he will still have 2 points till he turns 46???

Please advise.

As of today he is eligible (assuming your calculation is correct) after March (his birthday) he won't be eligible anymore.

And points calculation is correct.. I only have confusion for age, as cic website shows as for 45 age- 2 points
46 age- 1 point..

So he will turn 45 in March; then will he still be considered 45 till he turn 46 next year in March or it is counted as yearly??? i.e. as soon as he turn 45 he will only get 1 point for age??

Please clarify..

Then that's fine he would have exactly the required 67 points until he turns 46 next year.

Sorry just 1 thing more getting average in IELTS as 6.5 is ok or he must have 7 in all 4 areas?

He needs 6 in each of the 4 areas to be eligible. That being said, as he failed to obtain CLB 9 in all 4 sections it is likely that his CRS won't be competitive.

he is not applying under CRS category.. he is only applying under Skilled category and is he eligible to apply under that category?

Once he creates an express entry profile he will get a score, if his score is low (less than 400 points) it is unlikely he will ever receive an invitation to apply for permanent residency.

Yeah it was coming less than 400.. So if he don't create express entry profile, and just apply under skilled category then also it compares with CRS???

He cannot apply under the skilled worker program without creating an express entry profile.

Also his consultant asked him to do credential evaluation before applying, and he has done that.. Just curious is this the requirement now as when I applied 7 years back I never did educational credential evaluation?

If your sister is younger than your brother in law and has minimum one year work experience in the last 10 years then she can be the primary applicant and see if they get a higher score as their IELTS iscore is almost same.

I just now did his CRA and looks like he is eligible..

Just wanted to know 1 more thing that do we pay fees only after we have been invited to apply under Express entry or how does fees submission process works.. Can you please advise on that too.

When I applied 7 years back my only consultant was this forum and I did everything by myself but now things have changed so much and hard to recall anything..
But you guys are so great..
