Filipino wife change her passport?

We're in the Canadian spousal Visa process and we wanted to change my Filipino wife's passport to her married name (mine)
I'm finding there's no available appointments slots at the Philippines DFA offices for this.
Can she go ahead and travel to Canada with me with her passport in her maiden name?
She has a brown passport.

Yes, she can, as long as her passport won't expire too soon.
