No you can’t work on a TRV. You need a work permit. You can apply to extend your stay but it’s entirely up to IRCC how long they will give you.

If you are not visa exempt you would need a valid TRV to travel into Canada regardless whether you have a work permit or not. Your stay would be based on the validity of your work permit.

Ah ok. I see. So does it mean that if you have work permit then TRV is no longer necessary? I hope i understood it correctly.
