Hello guys

I am new to this forum and I am glad that I found you!

How much time does it take for a background check to finish processing? it has been a long time and I'm awaiting their answer till now.

I've submitted my application online through a professional immigration consulting firm in Canada
Submission application online on 4-12-2017
Biometric on 7-12-2017
Was updated on 2-1-2018 background check under process and final decision in progress will send you a message once the final decision has been made

Today is 11-2-2018 over 66 days since my biometric, I'm Palestinian on visit visa in the USA and I did all that while my vacation here which will finish at the end of this month February 2018

Can anyone help on this? Do I need to get worried about anything? and if I left before their answer can I send my passport to the VAC centre in Los Anglos if I get an approval?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Background checks could take any length of time to be completed.

Currently, there is one applicant (Pakistan applicant, Australian PR) who has been waiting since 180+ days.... and few others who have been waiting since 90+ days. Last year, there were several applicants who waited for even more than one year.

There's no way of knowing the type of background checks/type of clearances that IRCC could be seeking.

Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do but to wait it out.

You can submit your passport to the visa office that's responsible for your country of residence (not necessarily to the LA visa office)

Thank you Brayanna for your prompt answer but I'm worried now more than before, +180 days and more than+90 days this is too much timing, do you know others from where they submit and what are their nationalities?

I will ask my consultant to send requesting final decision before the end of the month.

Thank you

180+ days: Pakistan with Australian PR.... and still waiting.
90+ days: Pakistan, Iran, etc

It is possible that your background check could be much faster. There's really no way of knowing.

Your representative can request the visa office. But it is highly unlikely that the visa office will accede to your request.

A decision won't be given until background checks and processing is completed

Ok
On My friend application they started Background check.. on his account it is saying background check is in process and eligibility not started yet.

My Question:

1 Is this is because he is outside Canada and that's why they want to check his background?

2 How long it will take IRCC to process background .. is this the same as for PR applicants?

3 can we assume that the eligibility most likely passed that's why they started background check?

4 background check means file is currently open? and someone is checking and will give decision anytime?
