Hi all,

We are Pakistani passport holders having US visitor visa . Me and my parents are planing to visit US (New York) and we want to go visit Canada (Toronto) also.

Can we arrive in NY and then apply for a Canadian tourist visa from buffalo or any other area . We have a 5 yr multiple entry US visa .
Can anyone guide me the best fastest and easiest way to obtain Canadian temporary visa for tourists visiting US on visitor visa.
I assume this is possible from buffalo but I am not sure .
And if it is possible then will I be able to travel around US after applying for Canadian visa and submitting my pp to Canadian Counslate in US ?
As we are not willing to apply for canada visa while being in US if we will. It be allowed to travel within US. Because if it got refused , we will be wasting our time while our stay in US.

There is no Canadian consulate in Buffalo anymore. Its was closed back in 2012/2013.The one in New York City is still open though. As far as I know you have to at least have one year of legal status remaining in the US in for them to grant you a Canadian visitors visa but don't quote me on that. Why not apply for visas in your home country before you leave? Typically the Canadian embassies in the US issues visas on the same day you apply for said visa if you show up to the embassy in person. You usually would wait for 2-3 hours after submitting your application and passports.

Thankyou for the update.
The canada visit visa processing time in Pakistan is said to be 26 days , but it usually becomes more then one month as they send the passports to Abu Dhabi for the visas.
So you haveto stay without passport for more then 30 days.
My father usually travels a lot
For business so he tries not to get his passport stuck for visa purpose for
Long.
Also we plan to travel to US in end of Feb, so not many days left to apply from home country because of the processing time.

Do I haveto apply at VFS at New York ? And will I get response within few hours ?

I am have no clue about VFS the process in New York. Many years ago when I use to need a visa to visit Canada I would show up at the Canadian embassy before11 am with my $60 money order, completed forms, pictures and passport and by 1-2pm I would be leaving with my passport and visa in hand. They would always tell us that "you have to have one year of legal status remaining in the US for us to grant you a Canadian visa". Maybe things are different now as it has been so long.

1. Yes, it is very different now.
2. You have to apply through the VAC in New York or LA, no going to the Consulate.
3. There is no 1 year rule, never was.
4. The chance of being approved for a TRV where you are only a visitor in the US, are decidedly lower than if you applied in your home country.
5. The processing time for New York is 16 days plus transit time to/from the VAC 23 days in Pakistan plus transit.

I am a Pakistani citizen too with a 5-year multiple entry US visitor visa. In 2016, I applied for Canadian visitor visa while I was in New York on a US visitor visa. My Canadian visitor visa application was approved. Processing time in New York is 2-3 weeks plus about 3-4 business days to get your passport stamped.

I have no clue if it was a rule or not. This happened to me twice before. I remember very clearly I was asked this by two different consulate officers in Buffalo. They wanted to know if had a minimum of one year legal status remaining. Back in those days you wouldn't be interviewed unless they needed clarification and on two occasions the length of my remaining legal status wasn't clear. The year when they closed the offices was the year I never needed a visa again to visit Canada. That saved me from ever having to apply for Canadian visas again. So I don't know if anything changed.
