1. You will need to show about $27K, first year tuition and 10K living expenses, 2K travel. No, it has to be cash, you can't pay tuition fees with a piece of property.

My wife was told to provide the same "Proof of funds" letter that was used to secure the study permit. If it was good enough to secure the study permit, then it should be good enough to use at your port of entry; and by the way, the letter was of funds in a bank account.

In re-reading your post, are you asking about proving funds for the study permit application or when entering Canada to take up the study permit?

A). Study Permit application:
You must show via documents that you have at least the full 1st yr tuition + CAD$10,000. Your proof of this sum can be:
  1. Recent bank statement(s) in your name.
  2. Recent bank statement(s) of relatives who will be funding your international study expenses + Notarized letter from the parent/guardian/individual/organization who will be funding your study.
NB: See link - https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/study-permit/prepare/get-documents.html

B). Taking up Canadian study permit:

Walk with the study permit application approval documents supplied to you by CIC, as well as the following documents as they were used in your study permit application:
  1. Police Certificate
  2. Medical Exam form/sheet
  3. Letter of Acceptance from school & tuition payment receipt (if you have already paid any part of the tuition)
  4. Proof of funds letter/package
NB: See link - https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/study-permit/prepare-arrival.html

Good luck!!

Hello.

I’m applying for a study permit on a 2-year program, which total tuition is $31,000 ($16,000 each year). I know that we have to show the $10,000 for personal expenses.

What the CIC doesn’t make clear is how much of the tuition fee we have to prove. Is it the full tuition (in my case 32K) or just the first year (16K).

Can someone help with this subject?

No, actually $15000 but I am already in Canada I did an inland application
If your first year tuition is $15K, you need to show a bank balance that covers this tuition and $10K in living expenses - so you would need to show at least $25K to be approved for a study permit.

Note that there is no inland study permit application. You either have to apply through the visa office responsible for your home country or through a visa office in the US.

I will be living with family

And I email the VAC location in Los Angeles and they told me that’s where I should send the documents seeing that I’m already in the county
