No, on the contrary first half of every year since 2016 saw a relatively shorter time line if we leave the few cases which were typical.

The correct statement is that new Delhi visa office is in complete chaos.

Ndvo use to be one of the quickest VO in early part of 2017, their timeline was 120-140 days (leaving typical cases).

Yes students intake months do have an effect on timelines at new Delhi. The intake months are August (leading to September for September intake) and December (leading to January for January intake).

After lowering of LIMA points back in June (somewhere) the fake profiles rush from infamous areas of India went towards the student visas. This could probably be as the consultants were paid and all their fake job offer letter became useless. They probably started filing student cases for such people from whom they took money. Results were 1.5 lac application of students in August 2017.

This lead to complete chaos at ndvo, they only started work on other visas (apart from travel, which they could not put on hold) in November. Three months of non movement caused confusion.

To give you example, ameen's file was approved on 27/11 where as no ppr was issued till January 2018 even after repeated CSE. Today only I saw garik's gcms and his file was approved on 22/11, even the stamp is numbered, issued and has an expiry written in gcms. Yet no ppr even after repeated CSE and emails.
This shows how bad the situation is at the office.

I have hopes that by March end things will start falling in order and ndvo will reclaim the old Glory. Might take more but they have to sort out the mess eventually.

Have fun

Lakhanpalji, what are the things we need to do now after COPR , I mean what are the major preparations we need to do in terms of landing in Canada. so that we have a smooth entry in Canada
1. Book air ticket. Baggage allowance is the most important thing. Time of landing is equally important. Comfort should be given priority then price. Pets can be taken along and many airlines have tickets for pets.
2. Make your shopping list ( exclude heavy jacket and sweaters).
3. Monetize your assets. Car house etc
4. You need 10000 cad liquid atleast. Be ready. Also think how and form of fresh POF.
5. Open bank account and send money to Canada or conversion to CAD at the time of leaving.
6. Know the Gold declaration procedure for canada. Or monetize your gold.
7. Make list and assemble your documents.
8. Arrange for 2 transcripts of degree etc for future use.
9. Arrange or know how to get Driving licence extract.
10. Know if your profession or possible profession ( according to education) needs licence. If so then most licence can be taken after CoPR and before landing.
11. Know what all certifications will help you or are necessary for your job profile. Certification can be done with less expenses in India.
12. Look for a house on rent. Kijiji works good.
13. Know the procedure at immigration desk and location of the same at the landing airport.
Also custom desk for declaration of goods to follow.

To be continued...

My AOR is 22 Dec 2016, FSW-O. My file was transferred to NDVO in Jan 2017 and in March I had a call from a lady from NDVO asking me about my job. After that my file moved in IP2 and since then it has been in IP2. After not seeing any movement in my status which I ideally should have been PPR, I ordered GCMS notes which read to be called for interview. The comments were they had tried reaching my university and college to verify my MBA degree but apparently they were denied any information over the call and that's why it was put in the queue for interview.

It's been 10 months and my GCMS notes read the same. I have written couple of emails, raised CSEs enquiring about my status and my sister who lives in canada has tried to reach CIC via MP route but there's no update from NDVO. Every time we are given standard response that my file is awaiting officer's review. And GCMS notes say 'to be called for interview'. Neither they are calling me nor they are moving my file ahead.

Seniors, please help. What should I do? I even went to my university and college to check if there is any contact number or email ID which I can share with NDVO. But they say there is a standard procedure embassy needs to follow in order to avail any information of the candidate. They don't entertain calls.

Please guide

14. If landing in Ontario, Look for insurance (from Canada only) to cover you for 90 days after landing. As you will not have ontario health cover for this period.
15. Think of converting one of your indian saving accounts into NRE or NRO

*Particulars of driving license*

In Canada driving license is a tough game. Initial license is G1, which is acquired through a written test and an eye test,

when driving with G1 licence another G license holder is required to accompany the G1 holder while driving on city roads only. No highways allowed.

Only a G license holder is allowed in the vehicle's front seat while the G1 holder is driving. Anybody can occupy the rear seats. Blood alcohol level of the G1 driver needs to be 0. G1 holders cannot buy a car.

Then after one year (8 months if you do an Approved Drivers Training Course) of practice and passing a G1 road test comes the G2.

With a G2 the driver can drive alone on any Ontario roads. Blood alcohol level of a G2 driver MUST STILL BE 0. All passengers MUST WEAR a seatbelt. You can only drive with as many passengers as there are working seat belts in the car. Insurance is usually higher as a G2 holder as compared to a G holder while owning / purchasing a car. However in some cases ONLY the first year insurance is lower due to a government subsidy for G2 holders.

Then after one more year of practice comes the full fledged G which is got after a more intensive G2 road test. With the G License (also called FULL LICENSE) you can drive pretty much anywhere with or without anyone else in the car. Blood alcohol level needs to be within legal limits (Below 0.8 at all times. If caught between 0.5 and 0.8 there are provisional penalties)

If you procure an extract of your indian driving license *(DL EXTRACT)* or ' PARTICULAR OF DRIVING LICENSE' you can collect your G1 license straight away after the written test as normal and then jump to G by giving a G2 Road test as soon as you can schedule it... If you fail the G2 road test a first time you then Possess only a G1 license... Which means that you again have to pass BOTH the G1 road test to get your G2 and then give the G2 road test to get your G... In this case there is no time limit (except the original validity of the G1 license). You can schedule both the road tests as soon as you feel confident of passing them.

The DL EXTRACT is a document that can be obtained from the local authorities with a small fee. It's given on the letter head of the authority.

It should be fresh (not more than six months old) when you apply for your G1 license in Canada. So extract it a few days before landing.

Following is the step-by-step process:

Open the site: https://parivahan.gov.in/sarathiservice/envaction.do

Choose your state from the list

Choose "Apply Online" from the menu on the left

Choose "Services on Driving Licence"

After the page loads Click on "Continue"

Enter DL Number (without spaces), and Date of birth.

Click on 'Go'.

'State', 'RTO' and 'Applicant name' should get automatically populated.

Now, select 'Apply to State' and 'RTO'.

Click on 'Proceed'.

On the next page, observe the details of Driving license.

Update Mobile number, Aadhar number, Personal details, Permanent address, Present address.

Click on 'Confirm'.

On next page, select the checkbox for 'DL Extract'. Click on 'Proceed'.

On next page, select Reason as 'Miscellaneous', and enter details - "Obtain driving license in Canada"

Click on 'Confirm'.

On the left side, select the checkbox for declaration. Enter Captcha. And click 'Submit'.

On the next page, click on 'Print'. (Save PDF and print later.)

Click on 'Next'.

On next screen, Select radio button for Fee payment, and click on 'Proceed'.

On next screen, do the fee payment. (it is 20 Rs)

Print receipt after successful payment (save a PDF)

Then click 'Next'. It should bring you back to the page with all details.

Observe that the status of 'Fee Payment' should be now 'Complete'.

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SAVED / PRINTED the ACKNOWLEDGEMENT AND RECEIPT.

You can also print the form 1 / form 1A here on the portal.

After completing these steps, go to the RTO after 3 working days, so that processing is done. You can collect your DL extract from the RTO from the right counter.

Take the following with you:

- Acknowledgement printout

- Receipt printout

- Original license

- License copy

- Form 1 / 1A printout

At any time - You can later check status of application here: https://parivahan.gov.in/sarathiservice/applViewStages.do

Guys, I have 6 month deadline approaching soon, since my AOR is 21st August. Also, my medical was done on 7th March 2017, so 1 year deadline approaching. I am on IP2 since December 14th. Don't know when I get the PPR. Meanwhile, I am in Canada on a tourist visa for next 2 months. Is there something I can do? I still haven't paid RPRF yet. I filled out case specific inquiry form to tell them about this and requesting for expediting the decision on my file. DO you think it might help?

In case I get the PPR in next week or 2, do I have to get my passport stamped and do my landing before 7th march 2018 (which is 1 year from when I had my medical). Or do I just have to get the PPR before that ?

Thank you for all the valuable details Lakhanpalji, I have few questions though.
1.Why do we need 10,000 Cad liquid CADS at least, ?
2. Does getting an international driving license from India help in Canada ?
3. How and where can we get the desired license or related certifications as per our profession after COPR in India ?

1. 1200 cad for rents of say 3 months, 1000 cad for food and about 500 for travels + some pocket money. As I believe that it might be a struggle for first three months. So I say that keep 10000 cad ready, rest do whatever, invest or by funds etc.

2. No use in Ontario, 2 months are allowed, that even you can do with your regular licence. They do get fussy about having a chip/smart licence so if your local authorities have started issuing them then better get one.

3. Use Google. Check on the candidates profile requirements on job postings. You will know what I mean.

December 14 ip2 might have a PPR order already issued and file approved . Like it has happened to a few guys in past weeks.

Pay rprf, take receipt, raise CSE, and again ask them where is my PPR?

Need language ... Join my WhatsApp groups and pm me.

So if the ppr comes soon then no extension will be provided and the stamp will have 17 March as expiry.

After ppr you will have to request for stamping at ottawa. Usually takes 15 days for approval and new ppr. And stamping at ottawa is slow it takes 30 odd days after submitting.

After that you will have to port out. So visit the Niagara :). And re enter as PR.

If the ppr is delayed and you get it at February end. Then ask for extension. You might be asked for a re-medical or probably be given a small extension.

The chances are low for extension in both cases. And I really think both cases are good for you as you are already inside port.

Have fun.

Just a small input here, I believe the one year deadline is from the day that you pass your medical. I had done my medical in June, but the expiry date on my visa is July. So you may have a few extra days.

NRE account will be of no use, until we lived in Canada, to operate completely the account, the OTP comes on Indian Number, only ICICI says they will let us change the number via email. Also transferring money to Canada from Resident account is easier than NRO.
Which NRE Bank account do you suggest?

1. Book air ticket. Baggage allowance is the most important thing. Time of landing is equally important. Comfort should be given priority then price. Pets can be taken along and many airlines have tickets for pets.
