Hi! I don't know if my comments will be of much help. I used to live in the US and had to get the FBI clearance. I applied for it after my last day crossing the Niagara border on April 16, 2016. I was getting my police clearances ready because I was actually waiting to get an invitation for EE under CEC class. However I ended up getting married and got invited 2 weeks after but decided to go the spousal route instead. I had to get 2 clearances, USA & Oman, and both I received in the summer of 2016. Since I didn't travel to either place since I got the police clearances, I didn't need to get an updated one from USA or Oman. I applied Feb 2017, and they accepted my clearances. SO as long as you haven't travelled back to the US, you should be okay. However if you did, then you will need to get an updated one.

Sorry for the long post.
I've been back and forth from the US to Canada. Is it official because my lawyers at My Visa Source never mentioned that to me. I hope i dont have to get another clearance, the wait time is currently 3 to 4 months.

Hello everyone,

I married the love of my life July 2017. My wife is from Vancouver, BC. We decided to do the inland spousal sponsorship. My application was received on December 27th, 2017. However, i received my police report from the USA on August 30th, 2017. So by the time i receive my AOR, my police report would have expired. Will they accept my police report even though it will older than 6months? thank you all!
I sent mine upfront and I already linked my application. So far they only asked for my schedule A so I'm hopping they accepted the expired one. Just to play on the safe side I would get an updated copy.

I sent my original clearance with my application as well. The wait time for a new US clearance is 3 to 4 months.

Hey everyone,

I want to see if anyone is in the same situation and see how it's going:

Applied for in-canada permanent residency on March 14th 2017. My Canadian wife is my sponsor. It just says on the portal "application received" and "medical received."

It's like 6 weeks shy of the 1 year mark and the target is 80% in the first year - anyone who applied around that time got their PR through yet?

Many thanks,

Alex

Oh man this is brutal eh!!

My wife and I had planned a trip to Italy in April for a family event. Anyone recon it's safe to leave the country for two weeks with the wife considering it's an in-canada application? I don't want to lose my work permit or PR and heard some horror stories, but then others say it's fine as long as you have your documents and the sponsor is with you.

we are in the same situation. have been planning to go to home country and meet family, but because of mixed experience stories, are scared to cross the border as it might jeopardize the whole application and 11 months of wait.

Guys, I have left the country like 4 times already. As long as you have your OWP and visa in your passport - you are TOTALLY fine. If you are from visa exempt country - that's even easier.

After struggling to link my PR application for while, I tried to link OWP and it worked and so yes I was able to link my OWP. I have no idea about submitting the OWP extension directly yo Vegreville, Do you get any letter reminding you to apply the extension? If so, the letter might have information. I don't know as this is first OWP.
Thank you for your advice! I could link my present OWP to my online account. I never knew I could link it till I found it out on this forum. I tried to see if my new application can be linked as well, but it looks like it is not on the system yet.. I mailed it about 3 weeks ago. They did not send me any letter to submit the extension but I thought I needed to since it is expiring in March (luckily even if I don't get my new one on time, 'implied status' will apply and I can keep working because I submitted the extension before the expiry date). Although I applied for PR in May, I still haven't got the medical check request yet.

Yulia are you serious?? That is amazing!! My wife and I have been stressing out big time because when we booked the flights etc way back when, we didn't know this "stay in the country" thing then heard all these stories about people having issues at the border.

So you have an in-canada PR application, leave the country with your spousal sponsor and never have issues?

Cheers

I have gone outside of Canada more times that I can count in the past 9 months since applying, with and without my spouse, and traveled to both my home country and others without a single question or issue at the border. You'll be fine!

Yes, and I left twice without my sponsor. They had absolutely no questions at the border about my PR application. The only thing they ask is - Where do you work? That's it. Don't stress out:)
