Hello Sir/Mam

I have a closed work permit which is going to get expired soon in another 3 months and my points in express entry are just 409 my question is what shall i do before the permit expires ? what visa extension can i apply for ? And will my points be raising according to the 1560 hours OR when the whole one year completes ? Note: I have a flight booking from Vancouver to mexico on 1st july please suggest something by which i be on a safe side to travel on that date from Vancouver itself . and keep my PR process continued along with it .

Assuming full-time work experience (30hrs+ per week) then you must work for a period of one year in order to claim a year of work experience.

You can only apply for a BOWP (bridge open work permit) if you receive an ITA AND submitted your e-APR. Your work permit must also still be valid when applying for this work permit.

but what if the closed work permit expires before receiving the ITA ? and will my points be raising with total number of 1560 hours or with the completion of whole one year ? And as you said that to apply work bridging work permit i shall have a valid work permit then what is the best thing to do to stay back in Canada ??

If you don't get an ITA, an option is to try and extend your work permit. This would be possible only if your employer is willing to extend your position, or if another employer offers you a job and gets a positive LMIA. In that case, and if you apply before the end of your current permit, you will be able to stay in Canada under implied status. On implied status, you can stay in Canada past the expiry date of your current permit, and you can still work (but only for you current employer).

Alternatively, you can simply apply to stay as a temporary resident (in that case you won't be able to work and will have to show sufficient funds).

And your points will increase only upon completion of one year of full-time work. No matter how early you reach 1560 hours, you will get the points only after having worked one year.

There should be an expiry date on your current LMIA. It has to be valid when you apply, otherwise I think that you will need a new one (you might want to double-check that). But of course, you first need to talk to your employer and ask whether he/she is willing to extend your job and issue you a new job offer letter.

Hi, regarding the work permit extension, if my PR refused and I get a new job offer without LMIA, can I extend my work visa?
