Sponsor newborn child

Hi Experts,

I received my Canada PR in Jan 2015 however, I could not move there yet (except the first entry), and now I have a new born baby in my family, born in India 1 month ago. Me and my wife have the PR, and I am moving to canada with a job offer in hand in 2 months from now (end of march). I want to know very precise and accurate answers if you may help please:

1. Can I add my child's name in my PR from India, or do one of the parent(s) has to be in Canada? Since my wife cannot travel without the child, I am moving to canada.
2. What is the processing time from India and from Canada by when I can get the child's PR done?
3. Meanwhile when I apply for child's name to be added, is there any way to get a temporary tourist / any type of visa for child, so my wife and child can come to me in Canada?

please help answer these queries, or if possible direct me to the correct information, as CIC website is too complex for me to look for this precise info.

One of the parents must be in Canada to sponsor the child for PR. You and your wife have already landed, so the child cannot be added to your application.
Meanwhile, you can apply for a TRV for the child. It will probably be refused. You then apply for a TRP, which will allow the child to come to Canada while the PR is being processed.

Thank you for your response. Could you elaborate a bit more on "Child can travel on TRP, while PR is being processed". When and where can I put child's name to be added in my PR? You just said that it cannot be added to "application", then what is the procedure to add it for PR?

You can't "add the child in your PR". You must sponsor the child for PR. This is fairly basic information, so if you aren't aware of even that, you really need to do some more research.

Your child cannot be added to your PR, because the processing of your PR application has already ended. You or your wife will have to come to Canada and submit a new application to sponsor your child for PR.
Just to be clear, has your wife already landed in Canada and become a PR?

I am also having kind of similar case. Child born in USA after me and my wife landed as PR. Now we both stay in Canada and have sponsor PR for our month old baby. Anyone know what are the next processing steps and how much time does it take for this whole process?

My friend is in a similar situation - he and his wife are PRs, and they did the soft landing in October 2016. Now they have a 1 year old baby and my friend is coming to Canada (moving permanently). I understand that he will have to apply for his child's PR once he is here as he can only initiate this process while he is in Canada. In the meantime, earlier our thought was that he will apply for a visitor's visa for his child while the PR is in process, but reading through the threads it seems that the vistor's visa may not be a viable option afterall? Also, the current processing time for sponsoring a child is 10 months. Based on the current situation, I have the below questions:
1. Is there any different between Visitor's visa and a TRV? If yes, then which one should he apply for his child?
2. As I have read in multiple threads, it seems that TRV will most likely be rejected - is there any specific reason for that?
3. If TRV is rejected, he can apply for TRP - I tried finding information on how to apply for TRV on the CIC website, but was unable to find it. Can someone please help me with this link?
4. Can the TRV be applied while my friend is outside Canada?

2. A TRV is for temporary entrance to Canada, meaning the person is expected to leave after it expires. For a baby with 2 PR parents, it's obvious the intent is for baby to stay in Canada permanently so TRV has high chance to be rejected

Did you apply for TRV or will directly apply for PR for your child on reaching canada?

We are in similar situation... Applied for trv for our baby, rejected twice.

Hi, As you mentioned you have applied for TRV thrice I have a few questions:
1. Are you currently in Canada? Or are you outside Canada?
2. If outside Canada, who wrote the invitation letter - it seems that the invitation letter is mandatory. In my case, my friend is trying to apply for his daughter's (1 year old) TRV. He is still in India and is planning to travel soon. So can he still write an invitation letter for his daughter?
3. Did you create a separate account on CIC for the child on whose TRV you are applying or did you create the application from your account?
4. Also, what all did you provide as the proof of means of financial support and proof of financial support?
