I'm applying to bring my wife from Brazil they received my process on November 27th .
can anyone please let me know where I'm in the process and how long it will take more or less to the next step i received the uci and application number on January 23th and linked my account in January 24th and I'm waiting for what heppends next and how much more time we'll have to wait.

THAT'S HOW IT IS NOW

status
- We are processing your application. We will send you a message when there is an update or if we need more information from you.
Review of eligibility - Your application is in progress. We will send you a message when we start reviewing your eligibility.
Review of medical results - You passed the medical exam.
Review of additional documents - We do not need additional documents.
Interview - You do not need an interview.
Biometrics - We do not need your fingerprints.
Background check - Not applicable.
Final decision - Your application is in progress. We will send you a message once the final decision has been made.

Is that good news?
I don't know it I'm in the beginning middle or final part of the process what happens when I'm eligibile?
Are they gonna ask for more papers or just the passport?

Thank you for your help.

First, they will determine if the Sponsor is eligible. Without any problems you can expect this to take about a week from when they acknowledged receiving your application (AOR1) which you said happened on Jan 23.

Your sponsor will receive an email with this decision. Keep an eye on spam folders etc.
Also, you may search using your application number and either the sponsor's country and date of birth or the applicant's country and date of birth in the ECAS system (similar but not the same as the myCIC GCKey account). You will see "Decision Made" under the Sponsor once they've determined eligibility. https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/security.do?lang=en

At this point, the order in which specific documents and requests occur has varied from applicant to applicant.

Soon after Sponsor's Approval, the applicant should receive an email requesting some or all of the following: Police Clearance Checks, Schedule A IMM5669 form to be electronically filled out and submitted via the applicant's myCIC account. You may also be asked for the Medical exam too but some applicants get this request early and some later.

After this, you'll get an email stating which Visa Office will be processing your application. When your file is received by this VO, you'll get a notification. This is the AOR2.

At this point there will be a lot of silence. If you didn't get a medical exam request yet at this point, you'll be asked for one.

The next correspondence should be a request for your passport (to insert your PR Visa into). This will signal that your application process is nearing the final stages. It could be many months before you get the passport request.

They will send your COPR (Confirmation of Permanent Residence) back to you after the passport request.

Ok thank you so much for the quick answer . That helps a lot

They already requested the schedule A form but didn't request the police records . That was requested on January 25 and accept on January 26th (no more emails since then )

I sent a police record's statement with the application also with the medical exam and in my process says (you passed the medical exam )
That means they accepted the police checks also?
Sense they only requested the schedule A form.

If that's the case everything looks like IS going well with you for your help now and know where I'm in the process

I've been searching for this sort of detailed answer! Been struggling with some of the abbreviations prior to this. This is wonderful, thank you. I have a follow up question, if you don't mind?

Is there a way to know which Visa Office will do the processing ahead of time? I read that different offices have different speeds, so am curious to see where my app would go for estimation purposes.

All US applications will be processed at CPC-Mississauga, and sometimes they will transfer US applications to local VOs either for a possible interview or a possible further assessment. If your case is as straight forward as it can get, the current trend for most US applications will be done with a standard 6 months range, although it is not guaranteed. It could be earlier or it could be later than 6 months.

I've tried to be a broad as possible about the over all process because each application is different and the order of some steps/requests from CIC can be different. CIC may also invariably ask for additional documentation (I believe Quebec has some special differences (CSQ) or for those who didn't put a good application together may be questioned about the genuine nature of their relationship which takes them out of the normal processing stream.

But like mentioned above, straightforward US Outland apps are generally started and finished in Mississauga although I've seen a few recent postings of people without red flags (that they knew of) where their application was sent to either NY or LA. Visa Offices are usually designated by the applicant's nationality.

I'll point out that as long as your application is located in Mississauga then you will be able to get some answers from the call centre about your application. There were a few times during my wife's application where we either missed getting an email or there was issues with myCIC account so I was able to call and find out if there were any outstanding requests/messages on the account. When calling the call centre, be prepared to try dialing and sifting through the menu multiple times to *attempt* to be put on hold to talk to an agent. And then average wait times can be as long as an hour. Can only call from within Canada, but if you are located, or if your sponsor is located in Canada (and they have representative power for your application) then they can call on your behalf.

If your PCC was valid when they received it then it will be in your file. CIC may or may not request an updated PCC later. I'm not very familiar with this though.

This 6 months range is from the application received or from the started processing your application ?

Also my wife is in Brazil this means that for sure they will send the papers to be finalized there or maybe it will be done here in Mississauga?

Thanks

The 6 months is from the date they receive the application to DM, but it is just for US applicants. All others will depends on their own local VOs. SOME of those VOs process cases faster than CPC Mississauga. I have seen people got DM around four months. But most people will get DM between 6 to 10 months. Some VOs process cases really slow, it can take 12 months or more.

And majority cases will be processed in the VO of their home country.
