Hi, I am from Philippines, 26 years old and a rape victim, with the case still on trial. It happened back in 2014, but like many others have already said, it's gonna be a long process. The people responsible are already in jail, I have submitted all the evidences, including the medical records and just waiting for my subpoena. It has been a tough journey for me.
While waiting for my next hearing I want to come visit my boyfriend in Ontario and meet his family and friends. In all honesty, I would want to finally put this behind me and move on, but I couldn't just abandon the case because
1) My sister is also a rape victim, and she never had the justice because she was unconscious and never recognized who did it to her. So for me, to win this case is to also win it for my sister.
2) One can tell if a person has changed, but the people that did this to me would often smirk at me inside the courtroom which gives me the idea that letting them out would just endanger many other women, even my family.
This is our dilemma, me and my boyfriend somehow tries to live and focus on the good than this. He is a Canadian, has a stable job (runs a business with his Mom), 27 years old. He has already visited me once, last December 14th and stayed here in the Philippines for a month. I have been unemployed because of the nature of my experience, my fear is that I would only get denied if I applied for a Visitor's Visa.
If I would be completely honest about this case, is there any chance that they would approve my Visa because I have a valid reason to come back to my Country?
Thank you so much to anyone who would respond. God bless!
