New Delhi (NDVO) 2017 - Spousal Sponsorship Outside Canada

Hello everyone,

I am a Canada PR holder planning to land Canada in February, and planning to sponsor my spouse via family class sponsorship programme. I believe that's the option to get PR for my wife. My doubts are :

1) Once she get a PR through family class, will she be able to work in Canada? or do I need to get a open work permit visa?
2) There is a spelling mistake in her mom's name on her birth certificate. We tried to rectify it by visiting corresponding govt offices, however no luck and they said its not possible to change now(due to complications). What should I do here?
3) Once I land in Canada, I guess i either need to have a bank balance as proof of funds to sponsor her or find a job and show the income status?

Also, apart from the official CIC website docs, is there any other step by step guide which I can follow to fill out the application?

I am April 12 applicant. Kindly refer the below timeline for my application

• File applied : 12 April 2017
• Schedule A / Background declaration & PCC requested : 12 May 2017
• Schedule A / Background declaration & PCC submitted : 17 May 2017
• Medical Done : 29 May 2017
• Medical status updated : 12 June 2017
• File received at NDVO : 17 July 2017

Since then gckey shows 'Your application is in progress. We will send you a message when we start your background check' and there is no further update

In case anyone have similar timeline as of mine, please let me know the status of your application

No update yet. There are a few March, April applicants waiting for their turn. We can expect something by the end of next month it seems.

1) A permanent resident can work, move, travel or do any thing in canada.
2) I am not a legal expert on this so I can just give a opinion. you can get a affidavit on stamp paper, mentioning two names (correct name and incorrect name) stating that both of them are same person.
I remember doing it for my parents visitor visa (my passport says jayeshbhai ramanbhai patel, while his passport says jayeshkumar ramanlal patel). So we made an affidavit saying Jayeshbhai Ramanbhai Patel and Jayeshkumar Ramanlal Patel are the same person and the father of Fenilkumar Jayeshbhai Patel.

This is my experience with the visitor visa.

3) You do not need bank balance or income status to sponsor ur spouse.

Did you get any Waybill number for the courier or they just call you to pick up the passport. My wife status says the passport has been couriered yesterday but no info regarding the tracking the courier . I tried by entering the VFS tracking ID as ref no. but nothing comes up.

It will take a day. Your tracking no is the reference no. Once there is movement, vfs will send your waybill no. Please check tomorrow again.

But the online status says it has been couriered on 24 Jan 2018. But still no waybill and with tracking I'd from vfs slip is working as ref no.
