Does the 'max 20 pics' include wedding pics or just the other occasions? I was going to send about 75 wedding pics (mehndi/nikkah) and about 20 more of other occasions but wasn't sure of the 'limit'.

yes, on my app it's all included (old pic up to wedding pic), you just collage them, so can fit for the 20 pcs. maximum or just choose those you think relevant on you app. (e.g wedding pic in church with groom/bride family, wedding pic in reception with guest, etc)

includes wedding pics. We sent 2 pictures of the wedding in our application. The 20 pics should cover the spectrum of your whole relationship if possible highlighting special events, and also just hanging out doing day to day things.

I find it hard to cover everything with 20 pics. Also, I'm getting mixed answers. I met someone at the airport few days ago who recently got visa (her process took 8 months) and she told me they sent a lot more than 20 pics.

Do you know if they used the 'old' package from before December 2016? given the timeline of 8 months it would make sense that they used the new package, but the old packages could still be submitted till January 2017.

Why not just follow the instructions? To me, if I were someone processing the application, I would be pretty annoyed if I had to go through many more pieces than what's asked for. IRCC says 20 photos.

Remember, photos are only one element of what's used in determining the outcome of the application and Visa Officers do have the discretion to ask for more pieces of evidence later down the line if they feel that it is warranted.

IRCC is also trying to speed things up and get rid of a backlog so that they can process more applications faster. Part of their method of streamlining is capping the photos to 20, and limiting the correspondence to 10 pages. If many people choose to ignore these very clear instructions it will only serve to not only slow down the processing of their own application, but also the time in which it takes to process all other applications.

In my opinion, not following the instructions isn't doing anybody who is going through this process any favours.

How hard is it to understand and follow instructions......really? It’s 20 pictures. Not 20 of my engagement party and 20 of my wedding and another 20 of my 2016 vacation in Zagreb......it’s just 20 pictures. If IRCC wants more than the 20 you send, they will ask for them. Quality over quantity.

The IRCC instruction...says max of 20 Pics....but 20 may not be enough to fully highlight your marriage, if you did like traditional, religious, reception, etc.

Will suggest you select the pics wisely to cover all your marriage events, such that you are able to still tell your story.

They want max 20 pics, but sending additional 10 or 20 should be okay......you are better to highlight and fully show all events.

A little more is better than not showing enough to highlight your marriage.

This may seem a really silly question, but what would be the least amount of photos that someone would have sent?

I totally understand the limit, it must be hard to deal with so much evidence, and I completely get the need to want to submit as much as possible.

I'm just concerned as I tend not to take a lot of photos.

IRCC instruction say....max 20 pics.

But i recommend sending the IRCC max 20 pics plus additional 10 to 20 pics, if required to cover all your marriage events and be able to fully highlight your marriage.

A little more is better than not showing enough to highlight your marriage......PLEASE FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTION BUT USE YOU DISCRETION.....

It says up to 20 pictures so theoretically you could send none, but it won't help your case. if you can't get to 20, I would supply a well-written note in the bundle stating exactly why there aren't that many photos and try to address any concerns that the visa officer might have. Point out that the photos you did provide show your relationship, and describe how they did.

Though if you are married, it may be difficult to justify not having 20 photos if you had a wedding celebration. But even that may be culture or couple specific.

We sent 12 pictures, 3 pages. I don’t do pictures either and we applied as common law, so no wedding pictures.

But i recommend sending the IRCC max 20 pics plus additional 10 to 20 pics, if required to cover all your marriage events and be able to fully highlight your marriage.
So, based on that logic, when does the extra 20 turn to 30 and then to 85? Cause you need to make sure that you include that picture of your long lost aunt sitting with your husband at dinner 4 years ago.......c’mon people. It’s just not that hard to understand. It 20 picture please! What if you have a civil service at city hall and you don’t want to include the pictures of the homeless people lining up for free lunch, cause there was no one else there to take pictures with? Pictures do not establish your relationship. Pictures are mearly supporting documents. The reason for 20 pictures, as previously pointed out, is to streamline the process. Applications were, in some cases taking years to complete, partially due to the reams of unnecessary documents people would send....hundreds of pages of pictures, and txts and Facebook pages, that someone has to sift through and find a ways and means to retain. Stop making this more complicated than it is and for those trying to expeditiously process application.

(and my other favourite, the dreaded STAPLE question).
haha, I used three paperclips to hold my two (headshot) photos to a blank piece of paper. Please don't yell at me. :p

n.b. I submitted 20 photos and had three of the wedding, two separate photos with each a different friend of ours in them, one of the two of us in a crowd, and 14 of just the two of us in various locations where we've travelled together in Canada, Netherlands, Germany, and Bermuda taken at various times of the relationship.

All the photos were digital so I used MS Word to put each picture on a page that included my name, d.o.b. and UCI (Many people won't know this number but I have one from previous work permits). Underneath each photo I put a brief description (max. 2 sentences). So perhaps I didn't follow the instructions to the letter either (writing on the back of the photo), but the spirit of that requirement has to do with printed photos from a photographer, and should not slow the application down.

Submitting too much information, however, does have significant potential, if many people do it, to slow things down for everyone who applies and not just the offender. So please... please, just send the requisite number of photos and other supporting documents.
