Does consent of ex spouse mandatory for taking kids with me?

I am legally separated from my husband for 1 yr.My (our) two daughters are with me.I am from Bangladesh.I am interested to get Canadian PR,already I have created express entry pool.I want to take my kids with me. Will it be mandatory to take their father consent?It will be difficult on my part as he is a psychic patient.What should I do then?My humble request to u please give me solution.Thanks in advance

You need either permission from the father or full custody from the courts.
