India PCC - divorced but spouse name still on passport and PCC. Help!

Hi,
I searched this forum and couldn't find an answer. I'm in a unique situation. Perhaps seniors can help me. @scylla @rajkamalmohanram @steaky @DelPiero07 @TanakaM

I'm divorced but my current passport still has my ex-spouse name. I got my India PCC today and it has my ex-spouse name on it. Now my question is will this PCC be considered valid? I have a dicorce certificate. Can I show that to CIC to claim that I'm divorced though my PCC shows marital status as married?

Getting a new passport will take anywhere from 15 days (complicated process with extra documentation) to 3 months. So, that could be very time consuming.

Hi,

As long as you have your divorce certificate it will be valid. That's all you need to prove that you are divorced.
