Hy, firstly... this forum is great!! I´m trying to apply for a job offer in canada, but dont know which is the procedure to guarantee that my employer applies for LMIA... Is there a way to search and apply for LMIA Job Offers or that´s an issue to negotiate with employers? Thanks

LMIA basically means that there is no Canadian citizen or PR already available in Canada who is willing and/or capable to do that job. It is extremely tough, if not virtually impossible, to obtain an LMIA approved job from outside Canada.

However, if you do land a Canadian job first then you can ask the employer about filing for LMIA because that is the only way you'll get 600 points.

All the best!

There is no way to guarantee an employer will apply for an LMIA. This is something you would have to discuss directly with the employer.

Yeah, just as imagined. So, this takes me to other important question: there is a way to get a job without LMIA? In the section "Find out if you are exempt from a Labour Market Impact Assessment" of CIC site is explained this aspect in a very ambigous manner. Is there proven examples of jobs that are exempt of LMIA? I'm a college professor for example, and is described there that academics are exempt.

LMIA-exempt job offers – Skilled immigrants (Express Entry)
In most cases, your employer needs a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) to support your job offer. Some jobs are exempt from needing an LMIA.

For Express Entry, your employer doesn’t need an LMIA if you:

  1. have been working full-time for the employer on your work permit for at least one year (or an equal amount of part-time work)
  2. have a valid job offer, and
  3. have a valid work permit that is exempt from an LMIA under
    • an international agreement
    • a federal-provincial agreement or
    • the “Canadian interests” category

my question is what do we have to qualify all above 3 points or anyone qualifying is possible.
we have received the job offer from Canadian employer but without LMIA and he is not interested to do LMIA

our crs is 387 and if we submit job offer letter then it will raise points by 50

You need to satisfy all three conditions. To get LMIA exemption, you should be currently working in Canada under a closed work permit.
