Hey guys,
I am an international grad student at one of the top schools in Canada. I got my Masters from this school in 2014. After graduation I continued to pursue a PhD. Now roughly after 3 years of PhD, I am totally burned out with zero publications. I am in a very bad place mentally now. I have decided to drop out. I would like to get some work experience in Canada. After doing some research online, I see that I cannot get a PGWP for my Masters, since the deadline is long gone. Getting an LMIA from an employer seems impossible. The only option I can think of is to apply for a short masters (1yr to 16 months) and get a PGWP for that. This doesn't seem like a bad option. I am on good terms with my PhD advisor, so I think I can secure an admission offer for a professional masters from a different university. I have sufficient funds that I have saved up from internships to support me for at least the first 12 months of a professional masters degree.
My question is what are my chances of getting a study permit for this period, assuming I get an offer letter from a very good university for a professional masters and I can show sufficient funds? My current study permit expires Dec 2018, I have already been granted 2 extensions, in addition to the original permit which was issued Sept 2012.
