International Experience + Visitor Visa

Hi there,
I have been approved the International Experience Visa which I need to use by September 2018. I want to visit Canada in May for a month before triggering the International Experience Visa. I am coming from the UK.
Is this possible to use a normal holiday visa for the month I visit or will my working holiday visa be triggered as soon as I enter Canada?
Any advice would be much appreciated!

1. As long as you meet the normal visitor requirements and have a valid eta. (Should have been issued with your LOE for the IEC work permit) should have no problems.

IEC participants do this all the time, come for a visit first and then return later to activate. Some even enter as a visitor for a few months to get sorted then flag pole although that can add a complication with getting full term travel insurance as per the IEC terms but otherwise not a problem.

Obviously the CBSA officer will have your details in the system so just answer honestly if asked that you want to enter as a visitor and will be coming back at a later date to activate your IEC permit. Always only answer questions asked by CBSA do not volunteer information as just confuses your intentions.

Be aware that some people have reported issues with checking the validity of an ETA issued with a permit on the website where it is prone to returning a not found message even though is valid if detailed on the POE letter. If worries anybody they just pay the 7 dollars and get another one but shouldnt be necessary.
