Hi there.

Hope you are all doing well.

I need some information about family sponsorship. I (PR) am going to marry within few months. I am planning to sponsor my wife. I have read Basic Guide and read some portion of complete guide from CIC website.
I have some questions.

1. Can anyone give the list of forms need to complete by sponsor, principle applicant and both?. (some forms are only for sponsor and some of are for principle applicant and some are for both?

2. In some forms it is said that 'this form must be filled up and signed by sponsor and principle applicant.

So, it means it will be two individual forms for sponsor and principle applicant.?

Choose the correct bundle of forms by answering the questions in the dropdown lists on this link
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/spouse.asp

The checklist with each application package type tells you who signs which forms. In the forms where both the sponsor and applicant need to sign, it is on the same form.

Before submitting your application, be sure you double check to make sure you have the most updated version of the form. CIC has a tendency to update the forms frequently - sometimes a few times in any given year. When going through the Basic Guide, be sure to review the section "Common Mistakes".

As you are a PR sponsoring your spouse, you also must be aware that you must be physically present inside Canada for the duration of the whole application. This means that you must commit to living apart from your spouse for upwards to a year if you choose to apply Outland and if your spouse is unable to enter Canada before landing as a PR.

I'm sure other forum members here can share their point of view.

Things like “use of a representative” are signed by both. I found it best if one person fills in the forms (the spouse provides the answers) and keeps track of which forms are to be signed. Fill out one (sponsorship forms) and then the others (principal applicant) and keep them separate (they all start to look alike after a while). When you are done and ready to submit them, go through the checklist and confirm each form is there and signed appropriately (watch for forms that require signatures in the middle of a page) and confirm your forms are current. Replace any that need updating. It’s a pain, but not a huge undertaking. Just need some organizational skills.

And keep copies of everything.
