Hi. I also sent my application on July 2016. I think our timeline are similar. I got my medical and background check on April 2017. Then got my sponsorship eligibility approved on August 2017. Haven't hear anything from then on. CIC shows that background checking is on.

From another post, I saw you were asking about OWP renewal. Have you done so? When your OWP will be expired? I think it takes 3-4 months to renew (am I right?)

Oh wow really, and we definitely have the same timeline. We also got first stage of approval " the sponsor and applicant approval" as well on August 2017. We also have hear nothing as well since then. My husband is OWP is expiring this month on January 19, 2018, so I applied to renew his OWP online through immigration online system. I just uploaded all the documents and sent it to them. To be honest if you do it online it is quicker plus applying online is better since you can check everyday how the process is going. I hear applying online is faster because if you send it by mail it takes longer for them to received it ... please let me know if you hear anything from immigration too. This process is very stressful and tiring. My husband is Korean and I am Canadian.

I am curious when you husband got his first OWP? It seems his OWP is relatively short. I got my OWP for two year, expiring in the end of this year.

Oh wow really, he got his work permit on January 19, 2017. We sent the application for open work permit on August 2016 so it took 6 months for him to get it. It has been very tough for us. We don't understand why such delayed.

I received my OWP back in Nov 2016, which is for two. FYI, I just received a message from mycic that my application process is completed and my application is being transferred to the my local office (Etobicoke @toronto). I think you probably will hear from them soon.

This refers to the Application for Permanent Residence you made under the Spouse or Common-Law Partner in Canada Class.

We are pleased to advise you that processing of your application has been completed. The Canada Immigration Centre in Etobicoke will contact you to arrange an appointment for the finalization of your permanent resident application.

IMPORTANT: You and your family members, if any, will be required to present original identification document(s) to the Canada Immigration Centre at your appointment. A final decision concerning the granting of permanent residence status will be made at that time. If permanent residence is granted, the name that will appear on the confirmation of permanent resident document is your name as it appears on your passport or identity documents.

"WE JUST GOT THE SAME LETTER TOO" THE PROBLEM WE HAVE NOW IS THAT MY HUSBAND JUST GOT HIS NEW PASSPORT AND THE APPLICATION HAS HIS OLD PASSPORT INFORMATION SINCE HE LOST HIS PASSPORT JUST 5 WEEKS AGO AND WE DID SEND THE NEW PASSPORT INFORMATION TO THE ONLINE ENQUIRY BUT THEY STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED AND TODAY WE GOT THIS LETTER SAYING IT HAS BEEN TRANSFER TO ETOBICOKE BUT NOW WE NEED TO SEND MY HUSBAND NEW PASSPORT INFORMATION TO THIS OFFICE BUT I DONT KNOW HOW..IS THERE AN ONLINE SYSTEM THAT I CAN USE SPECIFICALLY FOR 'ETOBICOKE' OFFICE. I AM NOT EVEN SURE IF THEY HAVE A NUMBER TO CONTACT THEM AS WELL. I WONDER HOW LONG IT WILL TAKE TO HEAR FROM THEM TOO???????

If you got the exact letter it means that your application is complete. From what I know immigration will contact you within 8 weeks or less for you to go to their office to sign your permanent residence and then you are done. That is good news actually.
