2 questions : Co-signer and International Experience Canada

Hi ! First time here.
My partner is British. I am Canadian. I am applying to sponsor him as a conjugal partner ( I was living in England for 2 years but did not live with him full time since I was a live-in assistant) . First question :
In the Application to sponsor document, they are asking for a Co-signer ... Do I have to fill this part ? and if yes , who do I put ? Clearly it needs to be someone Canadian because they ask your canadian status ..

Second question : He applied in November 2017 for the International Experience Canada Visa. We are almost 4 months later and he has yet to get picked for it. This is why I'm looking into this option of sponsorship. My question is : will it look bad? Should he remove his application ? Does it matter at all ?

You don't qualify for conjugal as there were no legal or immigration barriers stopping you from either marrying or living together at some point. You need to live together for 12m consecutively to apply for common law or marry and then apply.

As kcward said...conjugal is most definitely not an option for you sadly. It is a trap many people fall into and think they qualify for, thinking that its a matter of simply not having made the move to live together or get married and they cant live together because they are in different countries.. This is not what conjugal means.

At this point the options would be for you common law after living together for 12 months (which can be in Canada or UK) OR get married and apply under spousal sponsorship.

Where are you both living at the moment?

To repeat what others have said, there is zero chance that you qualify as conjugal. Do not even attempt this category as you are looking at a guaranteed rejection.

You can find a way to live together 12 months to become common-law, or get married, and only then sponsor for PR. Or simply have him continue with his IEC application and start your common-law qualifying when he arrives.

Would we be considered common-law is we both shared the same address for 2 years by any chance?
When I moved to the UK, my official address was the same as his. My bank account, phone bill, taxe return, are all at the same address as him.
On paper I was living there....I was working and living all week somewhere else ( for work) and on the week end , and holidays and between jobs , I was living with him full time.
Could that work ? I did not try to apply for the common law because apart from a joint bank account, we don't technically own anything together. But we did live together as a couple for the last 2 years.
I am back in Canada since a little over a month .

If it ever came to the attention of visa officer that you were basically not living together 5 out of 7 days a week (so 70% of the time was apart), they would most likely reject your claim of common-law status. Of course this would be at discretion of the visa officer, but IMO I think this goes way over the short absences allowed for work.

No i dont think this would qualify you for common law as you cannot have gaps like.. Yes a few nights here and there, a week or so even, but i dont think this would fly if it came down a VO scrutinizing your case. It has to be continuous cohabitation.

Either get married or live together for a year continuously after you've reached Canada - and then apply.

As of now, you don't meet the definition for common law.

I can't believe that they would never have seen a case of a person having a job like mine... even in Canada I'm gonna work this way probably . Surely there has been some nanny/house nurse/so on that were not living with their partner full time...

Assuming that he is from the UK. This is the current schedule of working holiday (IEC)
Other than getting married, see if he got picked this round for IEC. The odds don't look so bad if he meets all the requirements.

The definition of common law for the purposes of immigration is that you must cohabitation continuously (i.e. without breaks) for one full year before you can be considered common law. Unfortunately you do not meet this requirement since you were in fact living with your employer for the majority of the time.

If you are going to have the same set up here in Canada, then yes, you should get married - then apply to sponsor him for PR.

I told him that was our best option about a year ago. He said he was never really into the idea of marriage ( Neither was I, we were like 2 years in the relationship but I knew we would be in trouble later if we did not marry) and that he could apply for the IEC.

Hmmm this is a tricky one.. Would there not be a possibility that you would nanny/home nurse without living elsewhere?

Would he qualify under any other scheme (other than IEC)?
