Hello all,

I am Canadian Citizen living in India with my Indian wife and daughter, 6 years now. I will Sponsor my wife for PRV but the processing time is too long. Cannot separate for that long. I was advised by an immigration worker that we can apply for OPEN WORK PERMIT (and) submit it (simutaneously) with PRV.

Our research on CIC does not support this. Are we not seeing something? I know this process isn't exactly black and white.

I see most applicants are NOT CANADIAN CITIZENS. Does this not matter in the process?

The 12 weeks wait is much better than a year wait. It makes sense, but....

Help please.....

Hi

You and your spouse have to be in Canada and submit an inland application to be able to apply for an OWP. If you apply outland from India, you can't apply for the OWP.

Being a Canadian citizen means that you can be outside of Canada when you apply. Sponsors that are PRs must be residing in Canada throughout the entire process.
