OHIP Proof Of Residency In Case of Short Rentals

I am moving to Toronto next month. In the first couple of months, I will be using Airbnb service as an accommodation. I was wondering what can I use as a proof of residency when applying to OHIP. Is the Ontario photo card enough?

In moving to Ontario you must go through waiting period of 3 months before eligible for OHIP. So you can just wait until 3 months is almost up and hopefully by then you have a firm address. There is really no point in applying earlier.

I am not looking to apply earlier. Proof of residency is required for the first 3 months and in this period I will not have a lease contract.

You don't need a lease contract, there are many other kinds of proof you can provide instead: https://www.ontario.ca/page/documents-needed-get-health-card#section-1

Thank you Rob_TO, How do they determine the first day of residency? I just want to make sure that no days are wasted.

Are you landing for first time as a PR? If so, they can just use the date of your landing on COPR.

Or if you're already a PR, then you can perhaps show your airline ticket date into Ontario.

Assuming you are landing for the first time - if you get an Ontario G1 driving license it would suffice as proof of residing in the province, you'll get te G1 in approx. 2 weeks after passing the written test. They will send you the OHIP card close to the end of the 3rd month after your landing date.
