Hi there

I have been granted PR status through EE application this August. I wanted to bring my partner to Canada and apply inland for her PR. However, she won't be able to join me and I was considering applying outland. After much consideration, we came to a conclusion that it would be probably better to reapply for PR together through EE.

My question is, how to build up a new EE profile after renouncing my PR. Do I need to notify CIC about renounciation of my PR status for them to delete my profile? Does anyone know how it works in such circumstances?

Thanks

You need to apply to "officially" renounce your Permanent Resident Status first (Instructions to submit application here). Then, you wait for your application to be approved before re-applying for PR. Once your application to renounce your Permanent Resident Status is approved, you can create a new EE profile. Your old EE profile will not be deleted though which has no effect on your application. Good Luck!

Thanks. I am just trying to understand how can I create a new EE profile with the same information when my old one contains that information? If I don't delete it, do they update it with regard to my PR status? There is still my UCI nr, and the UCI nr of my commonlaw partner as my dependant.

Forget about your old profile, it is locked since you received the ITA, it can't be deleted or updated anymore. You will have to create a new one. Good Luck!

Thanks. I am actually a landed PR. Already have my PR status. Does it pose any problems?

I also have a bank account in Canada. Do I need to notify the bank about loss of my PR status then?
No.
BTW, one thing to keep in mind if you apply to renounce your PR status while being in Canada:
If you are inside Canada and your renunciation has been approved, you will be considered a temporary resident (visitor) in Canada. You are allowed to remain in Canada for six months as a temporary resident. If you would like to remain in Canada longer than six months, you must apply to extend your stay in Canada. You will no longer be allowed to work or study without authorization from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

That seems like a stretch to do all that. Why not just sponsor your spouse and save yourself the head ache? It probably will take just as much time for you to sponsor her as it would take you to formally apply to renounce your permanent residence status.

Hi there. Because to sponsor someone involves separation for at least 12 months. There is also the risk of the app being rejected. On top of that, I don't have a job in Canada, no permanent place since am outside of Canada at the moment. I have my outland app prepared but there are risks. If I apply to renounce my PR now, hopefully I will get a decision in January/February. My documents and my IELTS is good until May, so I would be able just to create a new profile and use the old docs.

Actually, there are more chances your re-application for PR won't be approved at all because everything you've done so far to get PR status in Canada won't be applicable to a second PR application. That is, if you became PR through CEC, then you cannot base a second PR application on that previous experience that already gave you PR status in Canada. You will have to start all over again. Read the rules and be cautious.

I became a PR via the FSWP. Does it make any difference?

Thank you. I am outside of Canada. I am thinking hard about renouncing my PR, and would like to ask you few things:

1. How long does it take? My visa office is London.
2. When all is said and done, I will set up a new EE profile. Unfortunately I have already moved a big chunk of my money from the UK account to my Canadian account. I have read somewhere that VO can reject EE application based on such movements, although in this case I have sent money from my account to my other account. Due to unsuccessful wire transfer, monies bounced back and forth twice out and back into my account. Do you think this could raise a red flag later on?
3. For the purpose of renouncing my PR, I would either need my PR card or fill the solemn declaration saying I have either lost it or never received it. The card is with my friend in Canada, but I have no access to it. Should I state it on the form, or just say I never received it, because I left Canada two weeks after obtaining PR status?

??

This makes absolutely no sense. Your partner is visa-exempt, so she can easily come to Canada as a visitor while the sponsorship app processes.

Hi there. Thank you. Good to hear from you. Merry Christmas to you. Yes the inland app was the first option. However I am concerned about her health. We don't want to take any risks since she won't have health coverage. Now outland is an option, but the separation is a huge factor. We still have some time to decide but I wanted to get info from all the angles. Would you mind answering these questions with regard to renouncing PR?
