Dear Canadavisa´rs : )

In Canada with a Visitors Visa up to 6 months at the moment, leaving soonish I think - to leave Canada for a few weeks / months until my work permit (IEC) is granted, then I want to fly back into Canada.

Switching status from visitor to wor

Going back to Canada again, do I need to apply for a new eTA again?
Or is the one I applied for 2 months ago still valid? :) Thank you so much.

Your current eTA is still valid. It is not dependent on what status you hold.

An ETA is valid for 5 years or until a passport expires whichever comes first.

Although I do not know I suspect that when your POE letter is issued you will also get a new ETA anyway automatically but as previous poster you do not need apply for a new one.

Dear @canuck_in_uk and @Bs65 -

Thanks for being so kind to answer my question. This makes totally sense re eTA.

BUT: Here comes the new thing, "before it gets granted" - CIG really does not like to make one´s life easy hey, here we go:

-> Just received an update on my application, they want 3 more documents.
I provided them with my German Police Certificate, now they want my Australian Police Certificate as well some record of my two states in Australia I have lived, a Traffic History Record and a Full License History Search from another state.

Being currently in Canada, I do not how to obtain these things, they make my life really hard.
They have issued me a deadline for mid-Jan. So now I am clueless what next step would be. I have stated I am in Canada whilst applying for my IEC.

Thank you so much!

The Australian PCC is online. Don't know about the driving records, you will need to research that yourself.

@canuck_in_uk & @Bs65 - you are stars!
Thanks, yeah I did the AFP PCC online, took forever, a lot of paperwork, but that´s been done, will be posted to my Australian address then, and then my family will photograph it via email to me.

Got the one state traffic history report online already as a document, and the VIC-Roads one, (wow), I have to send an email to (...).

(...) via @Reddysar " ---> "You need to request VicRoads to send you a letter providing evidence issued by Victoria roads authority, stating that you have never attained a Victorian Licence. The only way to request this is by sending an email to demerits@roads.vic.gov.au. In the email you need to mention the address you were staying for the whole sty in Australia and attach your passport copy for their verification. You need to also ask them to courier the letter to your current address. Usually they take 5 to 10 days to reply to this email."

WOW (!) A lot of work for a working holiday, so will do the email shortly, but hope it will not take much time, as I got only one month to submit all the three documents.

Ciao for now :).

Good day @Bs65 & @canuck_in_uk & to all members here:
HAPPY HOLIDAYS SEASON TO YOU ALL!

After all the hassle - got the work permit approved, what a nice Xmas gift ;).
Leaving Canada soon for a few months - I have 1yr. time to activate my work permit the approval letter states.

Q.: I applied under the IEC-Program for Germans and in this approval letter I just got, I have no indication of the length the work permit / visa will be valid. It says, depending on my health insurance cover / passport expiry, but it does not exactly say it is valid for 1yr.
Australians or Irish people even get a 2 yrs.-work permit.

-> Very curious how long it will be valid for, so I can plan out how long I want my health insurance to be etc.?

Again, I must thank you so much for your answers, and for being so generous to me with your help,
much appreciated.

Ciao for now,
M.:);)

You working too hard for us guys here :)!
Thanks, I can read up to 12 months, ok, super.

But then:
---> " (...) find ***temporary paid employment*** to help pay for their trip (up to 12 months)." -
Meaning I can find an employer to work for up to 12 months in a row as well, right, if they keep me?

--> Do I need to get a tax file number / how do I get it?

THANKS AGAIN so much @canuck_in_uk

I am reading this:
"Open employer and employment location means you have an open work opermit.http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/glossary.asp?_ga=2.212389972.171553945.1514057457-426212000.1513660366#open_work_permit
As long as your work permit is valid, there are no restrictions on:
-> how long you can work, or -> how many hours you can work

So it seems like it does not matter how long for one employer, but where can I see if it is an "OPEN" Working Holiday Permit?

-> INSURANCE
Also how many people in % have to actually show their insurance documents for the length of the stay?

You can work for the same employer the entire time.

You will need a SIN. You can apply at a Service Canada office.

Not quite sure what you are asking. It is an open work permit.

You need to have insurance. CBSA can refuse to issue your work permit if you don't.
