So just checked GCKey.. We only just got request for medical and they say they are "reviewing results of medical" .. lol.. so looks like they are still figuring out the system.. but at least something is moving!!

I hope everyone gets some new before end of the year!

Hi all, I need some help. I just received a request letter asking for my police certificates. One of them is from USA and I need to send a completed fingerprints card. Someone has done this before for USA? Where can I do this in Canada? Thanks!!

You can print out the cards from the FBI website, and you can get printed pretty much anywhere that does finger printing. RCMP, Commisionaires, (You could probably google businesses that do this too, especially if you live in a bigger city) Some people have even done it themselves, but personally I wouldn't.
It takes 14-16 weeks to get them back once they get to the FBI if you send them directly.

Or if you're an American citizen you can use a channeler which is much faster.

Thank you so much, very helpful!
14-16 weeks???? Wow, I am never going to make the deadline for the documents submission then...

This is why it is suggested on the 5589 form that you start your fingerprint submission when you submit your spousal sponsorship.
You can still submit your fingerprints, then send a letter of explanation, and they *should* wait for you to submit them.

I know, I did request a police clearance at the police station in NY before leaving USA (and they told me that would be valid) and I submitted together with my application for spousal sponsorship. But it seems that it has to be from the FBI because they are requesting it again... so annoying, this is going to delay my application for a while. Oh c’est la vie! Thanks for your help :-)

i also had to do the FBI clearance. since when i was still completing the documents, it says in the CIC website that all USA nationals and those who stayed there for more than 6 months need to submit an FBI clearance. i checked and it takes about 16 weeks to get one. so that was the very first thing i tried to get.

Yes it has to be from the FBI. Your check from NY is probably valid, but cic wants an FBI check, not a local precinct. Often times other states do not have access to the information of other states. Fbi is a national database, and encompasses all states within their system. I assume that is why a state level is not accepted.

Hello buhe,
Do you have any information for how long it takes to receive the passport after sending via VAC?
Thanks
