Hi everyone, October applicant (my husband is actually the PA, I’m the sponsor). Our application will be processed by Vienna, we received AOR2 December 4, and BGC started processing on December 7. Just curious for those recently commenting, is your BGC in process and you’ve been waiting all this time? I know BGC can be a lengthy step but I was hoping 2-3 months at most if your file is fairly straight forward...

Hey! Welcome :), Sounds like they started yours super quick. Where did you see that they started your background check?
My application was sent to Vienna on October 6th and they started processing on October 10th. Since then I have no update about them doing a background check or anything.

Thank you! :) My husband saw it in GCkey, under Background check, it initially said “you application is in progress we will notify you when we begin your background check” then that changed to “we are processing your background check”

I was pretty happy it was started earlier I expected a longer delay after the transfer. I’m not sure if it has anything to do with this, but the day before BGC started we sent the Vienna VO another scan of the PCC because we were worried about the photocopy on the one first uploaded through GCkey. Just sent a message explaining we’re being precautionary and sending a copy because we were worried something wasn’t legible. They responded the next day to the PA’s email and said “received, thank you” then same day BGC started. I have no idea if that kick started something or it was pure coincidence

I think I will send them an email, because You applied after me and your background check started almost right after it was forwarded to the Vienna VO, where as I have been waiting for over two months and my background check has not started yet. My application was never returned and I have provided all the needed information :( I am sooo happy that yours seems to be going quickly though

It is frustrating, last time they asked for a new pasport pictures, but that was a month ago.I wrote them a message end of November I got a reply in a few days, saying they received the pictures and they will inform me think that Vienna office is sleeping. :(

We applied July 2016.

My lawyer saying everything is finished we are only wating for the final decision.
We did hoped that it will be finished by Christmas, but

Hmm.. To be honest I think that this comes down to the lawyer. Lawyers are busy people, i’m sure they are working more cases than just one. I remember a friend of mine had her application returned because the lawyer forgot to respond to a request. I very honestly believe that it is the lawyer who is being slow with the paper work and responding to their requests.

sorry to hear that guys... but I've seen from the google spreadsheet that some applicants have BGC in process for only a of couple days and then DM and/or PPR appear suddenly. Others are stuck at BGC for months and months on end without explanation. So if you haven't heard anything, it might not mean that nothing at all is happening. I really wish you all the best in the remainder of the process!

Hey Guys!
my name is Rina, I live in Alberta. I have been following this thread for a bit but I only just now created an account to share my progress.

I applied to sponsor my spouse who lives in Kosovo (He is the principle applicant for the immigration and permanent residency)
I am probably just very impatient,
but August 15th 2017 my application was received by CIC. They started processing it on Sept 20th 2017. Sept 29th I got the email asking for the principle applicant to complete the medical exam. The medical exam was successful and he passed! On October 6th the application was forwarded to the VO in Vienna (before my spouse even did his medical exam wth??), and on October 10th they started processing it.

Since then I have not had any updates (No AOR or anything) How long after your applications were sent to Vienna did you receive any updates?
Our application was sent to Vienna on July 4th and I have no updates. Background check hasn’t even started, so maybe you will be waiting for a bit before they send you any updates

Yeah some of us just have bad luck, I'm happy your application is progressing quickly though, it shows us Vienna applications that at least something is happening over there.
