So your husband asked for the interview in English but got a Spanish translator too? Hmmm, maybe my spouse should do the same thing. He put down he wanted to do the interview in English. (He probably thought that might make him look better). I never thought about the having more time to think angle.

Also I guess it is a good idea for me to go as well? It seems that they might ask the sponsor questions too?

We put down we wanted English too. But that day they asked him if he wanted to use the Spanish translator that was there, so he did. He said it was easier to answer because he knew why she said in English but had to wait for the person to translate to Spanish and it gave him time also.

Our interview was exactly the same as msb. My hubby was in there for about 30 minutes, asked me to come in while he left, asked me a few questions, got him to come back in and said we were approved.

Coincidentally, I ordered notes on November 2nd, and got the request for the interview on November 7th, interview scheduled for December 6th. Got the notes on December 5th. The notes clearly stated the reason why I needed an interview. It was just a couple of notes, one I assume from someone who wasn't an immigration officer, and the other one who was indeed an immigration officer. The concerns the first person had matched the questions I was asked by the first person, who wasn't an immigration officer. The concerns the immigration officer had, which were less, also matched what I was asked by the IO during the interview. If you order notes, it will definitely say why they're calling for an interview. Although it was a bit overwhelming for me to see so many doubts/concerns from their end, it helped me to prepare for it, knowing what they'd be asking. Good luck!

Are you sure? It did not have any comments at all? Just said: interview recommended and absolutely nothing else? Perhaps the notes were generated before the IO wrote down what the concerns were? My notes didn't say interview required because of this and that, it just had comments and at the end of those comments it said interview required, but the comments were the concerns that were addressed during the interview.

Yes I have searched those notes over and over. It has some notes on how we met and the dates of our correspondence but no personal thoughts on any concern . I ordered notes 6 months after applying.

Perhaps those are their concerns? Mine said something like: PA claims he has never left the country, yet the evidence shows PA's proficiency in English is very high. There was a sentence that just said: Police certificate not on file, and that was one of their concerns, they asked me why I hadn't submitted it yet.

I think their concerns are how quickly we got married after he was rejected for visitor visa even though we didn't think much about it. And that we only physically met where we got married. We have only spent 1 week together in 2 yrs and 8 months. So these may be concerns but not something they emphasize as such

It sounds like you know your situation pretty well, so if they ask about these things, you can make sure your husband tells them you tried to be together by applying for the tourist visa (and you got married firstly because it was the what you both wanted and not only to be able to apply for family sponsorship) and then emphasize that you are eager to be together so you can make up for the lost time since his visitor's visa was denied. I'm trying to see it from their point of view in that they are just doing their job in trying to rule out cases of fraudulent marriages/relationships, since they don't know you personally.

Thanks for the advice, yes we did meet online April 2015 and we were married November 2016

If you've only spent 1 week physically together, of course that is a huge concern they'd have. It is really hard to believe that there has been something that has kept you from at least being physically together for more than 1 week out of almost three years. I don't know if you will be refused, but that alone doesn't look good at all. You have quite a complicated case, so you should expect difficulties and complications.

It does seem like a huge barrier. @Susieq, you are going to be present at the interview for your husband? I wonder if it would be a good idea to seek some legal counsel or that of an experienced immigration consultant before you attend the interview. We did get an immigration consultant to look over our file before we submitted and she gave us some advice we hadn't considered beforehand.

Sorry to bug you, but I was wondering that when you ordered your GCMS notes, where you saw the concerns they had, was it in the Notes section? The reason I ask is because they did a pre-assessment of our relationship when they first opened our file at the VO and the text from that only states facts about our relationship which the officer summarized from the info provided in our app. There was no mention of whether they thought our relationship was genuine or not. I am also wondering if the notes you are referring to which you said clearly stated the reason why you guys needed an interview was generated just before you went for the interview? I will find out next month in our new set of notes if there are any new comments which indicate why they want to interview us, but just wanted to know in advance since this thread has been started and you are still around on this forum. they did a pre-assessment of our relationship when they first opened our file at the VO and the text from that only states facts about our relationship which the officer summarized from the info provided in our app. There was no mention of whether they thought our relationship was genuine or not.

Mine was the same, a pre-assessment first, then something summarized by the immigration officer. What was there was all the concerns that were addressed during the interview. All that was mentioned there was what I was asked during the interview. No mention of relationship being genuine or not in the notes. Our notes were generated the 16th of November, the interview was on December 6th. However, at the end of those notes (comments) first in the pre-assessment it said: review required by officer, then the next one, summarized, the note from the immigration officer, at the end it said: interview required. If something says interview required at the end, whatever says before that would be the reason why.

Actually everything has gone quite smoothly for us so far. We are a legitimate couple and we want to spend our lives together. Our mothers were at the wedding and with us the entire week. We were married at the kingdom hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. The 11000 kms that my hubby lives from me is the reason haven't gone there
