I was employed yes but that was not required of me to show income for, which i didnt. All they asked is if i owed any taxes for previous income tax years. As long as you arent on social assistance thats basically all they cared to know.
Note that the OP's spouse (the sponsor) wasn't full time employed. That's why OP was concern.

You however, was employed. That's the difference. So you didn't even include Option C/NOA? That's the "proof".

The notice of assessment i included didnt show my salary it was only a letter from CRA declaring i didnt owe back taxes.
I didnt include the normal NOA and wasnt asked for it at the interview either.

Interesting. I didn't know that there are different versions of NOAs.

Sounds like @msb had a very unusual experience.
The new application package in 2017 does require you to include both your NOA (of which there is only one version they will accept) or Option C, as well as a letter from your employer stating your salary.

Back taxes are not an issue, my husband owes a $%*#-load of taxes and was approved as a sponsor this year with no problems.

My application was the 2016 one before it changed.
I didnt use my regular NOA because it was not updated that i had paid what i owed for 2014 on it
So CRA sent me another letter that shows all my recent years were updated and paid. No income was listed on that letter.
