Is it possible for a US citizen to get a Canadian work permit for an entry level job like a wearhouse or grocery store type job? If so how hard would it be to obtain?

No, it is not easy. You (like anyone else from any other country) will need to get an employer who gives you a job offer and obtains an approved LMIA so that you can apply for a work permit which extremely hard (practically impossible) for this type of jobs. Good Luck!

Alright thanks. If I was interested in going to a trade school for something like welding would there be a way to get a study permit or is that just for university's?

Also if not, if I were to get a welding degree in the US would it be easier/possible to get a work permit in welding?

As long as the school is on the Designated Learning Institutions list - you can apply for a study permit. Note that apprenticeships typically aren't possible for non-Canadians.

Still very difficult. Employer needs to obtain an LMIA which is a long and expensive process with no guarantee of approval that requires the employer to prove no Canadian could be found for the role.
