Barcodes

Hello

I will be submitting my sponsorship application in January and have been wondering about the barcodes on the application forms. I would like to have everything completed by the time we leave for Canada with my partner, and was wondering whether the barcode includes a date it has been created. If I put lets say 20th of January on the forms as the date it has been signed, but print it off validated on 5th of January, is the barcode going to include that information?
Thanks

I'm not sure if anyone can really give you a straight answer but I can say that it shouldn't really matter. Ideally the forms would be signed within a few days that you will be submitting them. In fact, I'd say print off the forms, and sign/date by hand. They don't care if there was a huge gap between when you printed it and when you signed it.

Also keep in mind that the forms are updated periodically, so if you leave a large gap like you mentioned, you will want to make sure you check if the forms have been updated so you send the correct ones out and not the outdated ones. Good luck!

yes barcode includes the dates and it also validates if the form has been signed. if you are going to print on a later date, the best thing to do is just re-validate. it will create new barcodes then print.

edit: you can sign now, then you can validate and generate barcodes later. as long as the first thing you do before you print is make barcodes. or.... you can generate barcodes right after you sign, then save the pdf. at this point do not make any more changes, not even dates. then you can print on a later date.

I am considering switching from inland sponsorship to outland and I am in the UK at the moment. I want my partner to sign the forms before I leave for Canada in January. I dont know how to go about it because the sponsor needs to reside in Canada to be able to sponsor. Would it be a problem if the forms say 5 th of January, but my actual arrival to Canada would be 15th?

If you are applying Inland, both sponsor and principal applicant (your spouse/partner) must be living in Canada. Just want to make that clear since your post made it seem like it was just one of you going back.
As for the date thing, I would say it would definitely be a problem. I don't see why you'd lie about a date range so small on your application. Just put the real date you plan to return to Canada on. A few days will not make your application go faster! Just go with the real date you plan to arrive.

I said that I will apply outland. I am in the UK, returning to Canada in January. I just wanted to know whether it won't be a problem if I complete the application before I return to Canada meaning everything being signed before I return there.

Oh sorry, I switched the two! If you are applying outland then your status in Canada doesn't matter and you can send off the application anytime. Sponsor does not need to reside in Canada to sponsor on an Outland app, but does need to satisfy an immigration officer that they will return with their partner once PR is granted.
