LMIA About to expire while applying for PR

Hi everyone and thanks in advance,

My situation is the next:

I got an LMIA for a year (which is ending the 17th of this month, December) And I applied about 3 months ago for PR (September 7th), I haven't got an answer (I got the invitation and everything and they said usually takes about 60 days to review and now we are close to 90, in the website says it might take longer, but I'm afraid I won't get it, all my friends have gotten theirs applying before and after myself and I still don't have an answer) yet and I'm afraid I won't get one maybe after my Visa is expired,
what should I do to stay legally in Canada while waiting for their answer?

Oh, God, did you read the LMIA letter? It clearly states in the content that you can use it for closed work permit.
Even if your closed work permit is expired, you can still apply for bridge work permit, until your application is finalized or rejected by CIC.
Apply for a closed work permit ASAP, and you will get two years work permit.

Remember, you are always legal when your application is in process stage!

Few things you have to prepare, your paycheck or pay stubs, online files(find files from officials site), employment letter, your lmia copy, passport copy.
You have to find them out from cic immigration website, go find the checklist, and prepare them all.
If you are worried about it, find a consultant to help you.

As I'm reading now most of the things are similar to the ones I had to get for my PR. Can I still apply for the extension then? They wont kick me out in 10 days right? (As you said I'm legal while applying for PR)

To be honest, I don’t know whether you are legal if you don’t apply for closed work permit. However, if you have it, you will be 100% safe.

Is closed work permit the same as just a work permit with an extension? I don't see online where to apply for a close work permit

You can only work for the employer who applied LMIA for you, with the closed work permit.
For Open work permit, you can work for everyone, there is no limitation.

Closed work permit is a type of work permit to support your stay and work in Canada.

I have a closed work permit already for 1 year, but now I just need to extend it until I get my PR, right?

Just to be clear. Sorry if I'm repeating myself I just want to make sure I make the right decision.

I'm currently on a closed work permit since December last year. This work permit is going to expire on December 14th.

Should I apply for an extension or for another closed work permit? Or is this the same thing?

Or should I just wait until I get a decision about my PR application. Like you said, if my work permit expires while I'm applying for PR I can still stay in Canada until I get an answer as long as I keep working for the same company that my closed work permit is linked to, correct?

Since you have applied for PR and your work permit is going to expire at this month, you can apply for bridge open work permit. Go for it.
